An enchanting, small dog, perfect to gift to that special child!

Materials: 
American Thread Co Star Pearl Cotton,  Size 5, 13 - 60 yd balls yellow, 2 -60 yd balls blue & few yds of red for tongue.
Kapok or Cotton for Stuffing
#5 & #8 Steel Crochet Hook

NOTE: 
#5 Hook for double strand & #8 for single strand.

BODY: 
Using 2 strands of yellow, ch 32 & work 30 hdc on ch, ch 2 to turn each row.  [Hdc:  yo, insert in st, pull lp thru, yo & pull thru all lps at one time.]

2ND ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc.

3RD ROW: 1 Hdc in each hdc with 2 hdc in last hdc.

4TH ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc, rep 3rd & 4th rows twice, then rep 3rd row once.

10TH ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc, ch 1, break thread.

FRONT LEG: 
Ch 20 & work 18 hdc on ch.

2ND ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc.

3RD ROW:  Dec 1 hdc at beg of row & work 1 hdc in each rem hdc.

4TH ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc, rep 3rd & 4th rows once.

7TH ROW:  Dec 1 hdc at beg of row, 1 hdc in each rem hdc with 2 hdc in last hdc. 

Rep 4th row once, then rep 7th row.

10TH ROW:  Inc 1 hdc at beg of row, 1 hdc in each rem hdc.

11TH ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc, join to body by working 1 hdc in ch 1 of 10th row & 1 hdc in each hdc with 2 hdc in last hdc.

12TH, 13TH & 14TH ROWS:  1 Hdc in each hdc.

15TH THRU 22ND ROWS:  Dec 1 hdc at beg of each row.

23RD ROW:  Dec 1 hdc at beg & 2 sts at end of row.

24TH ROW:  Dec 2 hdc at beg of row.

25TH ROW:  Dec 1 hdc at beg & 2 sts at end of row. 

Rep 24th & 25th rows once.

28TH ROW:  Dec 2 hdc at beg & inc 1 st at end of row.

29TH ROW:  Dec 1 hdc at end of row.

30TH ROW:  Dec 1 hdc at end of row, then work 1 row even.

32ND ROW:  1 Hdc in each of first 15 hdc, 1 sc in each rem hdc, inc 1 sc in last hdc.

33RD ROW:  1 Sc in each sc & 1 hdc in each hdc. 

Rep 33rd row once, break thread.

BODY UNDER SECTION: 
Ch 32, work 30 hdc on ch.

2ND & 3RD ROWS:  1 Hdc in each hdc.

4TH ROW:  Dec 1 hdc at beg of row.

5TH ROW:  Dec 2 hdc at end of row & rep 4th & 5th rows twice.

10TH ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc, ch 1, break thread.

FRONT LEG UNDER SECTION: 
Work first 10 rows of front leg.

11TH ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc, join to ch 1 of body & cont across row, dec 2 hdc at end of row.

12TH ROW:  Dec 2 hdc at beg & 1 hdc at end of row.

13TH THRU 23RD ROWS:  Dec 1 hdc at beg & end of each row.

24TH THRU 28TH ROWS:  Dec 1 st at beg of each row.

29TH THRU 32ND ROWS:  Work even, break thread. 

Work another body & under section.

BACK OF HEAD: 
Ch 20, 2 hdc in 3rd st from hk, 1 hdc in each of next 16 sts, 2 hdc in last st.

2ND ROW:  2 Hdc in 1st hdc, work even across row inc 1 hdc in last hdc.

3RD ROW:  Inc 4 sts in this row, 2 sts at beg of row & 2 sts at end of row, then work 3 more rows same as 3rd row.

7TH THRU 11TH ROWS:  Work even.

12TH, 13TH & 14TH ROWS:  Dec 1 hdc at beg & end of each row.

15TH THRU 21ST ROWS:  Work even.

22ND ROW:  Inc 1 st at beg & end of row.

23RD & 24TH ROWS:  Work even.

25TH, 26TH, & 27TH ROWS:  Dec 1 hdc at beg & end of row, break thread.

FACE: 
Ch 14, 1 hdc in 3rd st from hk, 1 hdc in each of next 9 sts, 2 hdc in each of last 2 sts.

2ND ROW:  2 Hdc in each of first 2 hdc, 1 hdc in each rem st.

3RD ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc, with 2 hdc in each of last 2 hdc.

4TH ROW:  Same as 2nd row.

5TH THRU 8TH ROWS:  Inc 1 hdc at end of each row.

9TH THRU 15TH ROWS:  Work even.

16TH THRU 20TH ROWS:  Dec 1 hdc at beg of each row.

21ST & 22ND ROWS:  Work even.

23RD & 24TH ROWS:  Work same as 16th row.

25TH THRU 27TH ROWS:  Dec 1 hdc at beg & end of each row, break thread.

OPPOSITE SIDE OF FACE: 
Ch 14, 2 hdc in 3rd st from hk, 2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in each rem st.

2ND ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc with 2 hdc in each of last 2 hdc.

3RD ROW:  2 Hdc in each of first 2 hdc, 1 hdc in each rem hdc.

4TH ROW:  Same as 2nd row.

5TH THRU 8TH ROWS:  Inc 1 hdc at beg of each row.

9TH THRU 15TH ROWS:  Work even.

16TH THRU 20TH ROWS:  Dec 1 hdc at end of each row.

21ST & 22ND ROWS:  Work even.

23RD & 24TH ROWS:  Dec 1 hdc at end of each row.

25TH THRU 27TH ROWS:  Dec 1 hdc at beg & end of each row, break thread.

EARS: 
With blue, & using single thread, ch 43 & work 40 dc on ch.  [Ch 3 to turn each row.]

2ND THRU 7TH ROWS:  Dec 1 dc at beg of each row.

8TH THRU 16TH ROWS:  Dec 1 dc at beg & end of each row.

17TH & 18TH ROWS:  Dec 2 dc at beg & end of each row.

19TH & 20TH ROWS:  Dec 1 dc at beg & end of each row.

21ST ROW:  Dec 1 st at beg & end of row, then work row of sc all around ear.

TAIL: 
Ch 14, work 12 dc on ch.  [Ch 3 to turn.]

2ND THRU 6TH ROWS:  1 Dc in each dc.

7TH ROW:  1 Dc in each dc, inc 1 dc in last dc.

8TH ROW:  Inc 1 dc in 1st dc & dec last dc.

9TH ROW:  Dec 1 st at beg or row & inc 1 at end of row. 

Then rep 8th & 9th rows once.

12TH ROW:  Inc 1 st at beg of row, dec 2 sts at end of row, break thread.

Work another tail section in same manner.

EYES: 
With blue, ch 5, join to form ring, ch 3, work 15 dc in ring, join to ch 3.

2ND ROW:  Ch 17 work 1 sc in each dc, break thread.

NOSE: 
With blue, ch 5, join to form ring, ch 3, 8 dc in ring, ch 3, turn.

2ND ROW:  2 Dc in same sp with ch 3, 2 dc in each of next 7 dc, 3 dc in 3rd st of ch 3, work 5 sc down side of 2 rows, 3 dc over ch of ring & 5 sc up other side, break thread.

TONGUE: 
With red, ch 8, work 5 dc on ch, ch 3, turn.

2ND ROW:  2 Dc in 1st dc, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, 2 dc in last dc, ch 3, turn.

3RD ROW:  2 Dc in 1st st, 1 dc in each dc with 2 dc in last dc, then work 1 rows of sc all around tongue, break thread.

COLLAR: 
With blue, ch 9, work 2 dc shell in 3rd st from hk, sk 2 sts, sc in next st, ch 3, work 2 dc in same sp, sk 2 sts, sc in next st, * ch 3, turn & work 2 dc in same sp with ch 3, sc over ch-3 lp of shell, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, sc over ch-3 lp of next shell, rep from * until collar is desired length, break thread.

LEASH: 
With blue, ch 5, join to form ring, work 1 sc in each st of ch. 

Without joining rows & working in back lp of st only, work 1 sc in each sc until leash is desired length.

ASSEMBLING: 
Match rows of body & starting at top, sew down back to lower edge. 

Match under sections & sew from top to lower edge; lay under sections on body, matching front legs & hind part. 

Sew across bottom of front leg, up one side of leg & down opposite side, around hind part, up one side & down side of leg & across bottom of leg. 

Sew both legs & fill with batting or stuffing material of your choice.

Match 2 face sections & sew them to back of head. 

Sew face half way down, sew neck to neck of body, fill head & sew rem of face. 

With blue, work running st down front of face & both front legs. 

Attach ears, eyes, nose, & tongue as shown. 

With yellow make French knot in center of each eye. 

Sew collar around neck & attach leash to collar.
