An enchanting, small cat, perfect to gift to that special child!

Materials: 

American Thread Co Puritan Mercerized Cotton, 1 - 400 yd ball white

Star Pearl Cotton, Size 5, 1 -60 yd ball green

Kapok or Cotton for Stuffing

#7 or #8 Steel Crochet Hook

NOTE:  Entire cat is worked with single thread.

BODY: 

Using 2 strands of yellow, ch 32 & work 30 hdc on ch, ch 2 to turn each row.  [Hdc:  yo, insert in st, pull lp thru, yo & pull thru all lps at one time.]

2^ND ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc.

3^RD ROW: 1 Hdc in each hdc with 2 hdc in last hdc.

4^TH ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc, rep 3^rd & 4^th rows twice, then rep 3^rd row once.

10^TH ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc, ch 1, break thread.

FRONT LEG: 

Ch 20 & work 18 hdc on ch.

2^ND ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc.

3^RD ROW:  Dec 1 hdc at beg of row & work 1 hdc in each rem hdc.

4^TH ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc, rep 3^rd & 4^th rows once.

7^TH ROW:  Dec 1 hdc at beg of row, 1 hdc in each rem hdc with 2 hdc in last hdc. 

Rep 4^th row once, then rep 7^th row.

10^TH ROW:  Inc 1 hdc at beg of row, 1 hdc in each rem hdc.

11^TH ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc, join to body by working 1 hdc in ch 1 of 10^th row & 1 hdc in each hdc with 2 hdc in last hdc.

12^TH, 13^TH & 14^TH ROWS:  1 Hdc in each hdc.

15^TH THRU 22^ND ROWS:  Dec 1 hdc at beg of each row.

23^RD ROW:  Dec 1 hdc at beg & 2 sts at end of row.

24^TH ROW:  Dec 2 hdc at beg of row.

25^TH ROW:  Dec 1 hdc at beg & 2 sts at end of row. 

Rep 24^th & 25^th rows once.

28^TH ROW:  Dec 2 hdc at beg & inc 1 st at end of row.

29^TH ROW:  Dec 1 hdc at end of row.

30^TH ROW:  Dec 1 hdc at end of row, then work 1 row even.

32^ND ROW:  1 Hdc in each of first 15 hdc, 1 sc in each rem hdc, inc 1 sc in last hdc.

33^RD ROW:  1 Sc in each sc & 1 hdc in each hdc. 

Rep 33^rd row once, break thread.

BODY UNDER SECTION: 

Ch 32, work 30 hdc on ch.

2^ND & 3^RD ROWS:  1 Hdc in each hdc.

4^TH ROW:  Dec 1 hdc at beg of row.

5^TH ROW:  Dec 2 hdc at end of row & rep 4^th & 5^th rows twice.

10^TH ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc, ch 1, break thread.

FRONT LEG UNDER SECTION: 

Work first 10 rows of front leg.

11^TH ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc, join to ch 1 of body & cont across row, dec 2 hdc at end of row.

12^TH ROW:  Dec 2 hdc at beg & 1 hdc at end of row.

13^TH THRU 23^RD ROWS:  Dec 1 hdc at beg & end of each row.

24^TH THRU 28^TH ROWS:  Dec 1 st at beg of each row.

29^TH THRU 32^ND ROWS:  Work even, break thread. 

Work another body & under section.

BACK OF HEAD: 

Ch 3, 8 hdc in 1^st ch, join to ch 3.

2^ND ROW:  Ch 2, 1 hdc in same sp with ch 2, * 2 hdc in next hdc, rep from * all around.  [Join each row & ch 2 to start each row.]

3^RD ROW:  1 Hdc in same sp with ch 2, * 1 hdc in next hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, rep from * all around.

4^TH ROW:  1 Hdc in same sp with ch 2, 1 hdc in each of next 2 hdc, * 2 hdc in next hdc, 1 hdc in each of next 2 hdc, rep from * all around.

5^TH THRU 14^TH ROWS:  Cont working in same manner having 1 more st bet inc points in each row.

15^TH ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc.

16^TH ROW:  Work 1 hdc in each of next 25 hdc, ch 2, turn & work 1 hdc in each of 25 hdc, break thread.

FACE: 

Ch 3, 5 hdc in 1^st st of ch [ch 2 to turn each row].

2^ND ROW:  2 Hdc in each hdc.

3^RD ROW:  1 Hdc in same sp with ch 2, 1 hdc in next hdc, * 2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next st, rep from * to end of row.

NEXT 8 ROWS:  Cont working in same manner, having 1 more st bet points in each row.

12^TH ROW:  Inc in every 1tth hdc, do not inc in 1^st or last st.

13^TH ROW:  Dec 1 hdc at beg & end of row & inc 1 hdc in every 12^th hdc.

14^TH ROW:  Work same as 13^th row, inc in every 13^th hdc.

15^TH ROW:  1 Hdc in each hdc, break thread & work opposite side of face in same manner.

Ears, eyes, nose & collar are worked with green.

EARS: 

Ch 35 & work 33 dc on ch [ch 3 to turn each row]. 

Next 8 rows dec 1 st at beg & end of each row.

10^TH THRU 12^TH ROWS:  Dec 2 sts at beg & end of each row, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp with ch 3, sk 3 sts, sc in next dc, work 6 shells down side of ear, 1 sc in each st at lower edge & 6 shells up opposite side of ear, break thread & work another ear.

NOSE: 

Ch 5, join to form ring, ch 3, 8 dc in ring, ch 3, turn.

2^ND ROW:  1 Sc in each sc, ch 3, 1 sc in same sp with last sc, 2 sc down side, 3 dc in ring, 2 sc up opposite side, break thread.

EYES: 

Ch 5, join to form ring, ch 3, work 15 dc in ring, join to ch 3.

2^ND ROW:  Ch 1 7 work 1 sc in each dc, break thread.

TAIL: 

With white, ch 14 7 work 12 dc on ch [ch 3 to turn each row].

2^ND THRU 13^TH ROWS:  1 Dc in each dc.

14^TH ROW:  1 Dc in each dc, inc 1 dc in last dc.

15^TH ROW:  Inc 1 dc in 1^st dc & dec last dc.

16^TH ROW:  Dec 1 st at beg or row & inc 1 at end of row. 

Then rep 8^th & 9^th rows once.

19^TH ROW:  Inc 1 st at beg of row, dec 2 sts at end of row, break thread.

Work another tail section in same manner.

COLLAR: 

With green, ch 9, work 2 dc shell in 3^rd st from hk, sk 2 sts, sc in next st, ch 3, work 2 dc in same sp, sk 2 sts, sc in next st, * ch 3, turn & work 2 dc in same sp with ch 3, sc over ch-3 lp of shell, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, sc over ch-3 lp of next shell, rep from * until collar is 10“, change thread to white & cont for another 10”, work green shells around white & white shells around green. break thread.

ASSEMBLING: 

Match rows of body & starting at top, sew down back to lower edge. 

Match under sections & sew from top to lower edge; lay under sections on body, matching front legs & hind part. 

Sew across bottom of front leg, up one side of leg & down opposite side, around hind part, up one side & down side of leg & across bottom of leg. 

Sew both legs & fill with batting or stuffing material of your choice.

Match 2 face sections & sew them to back of head. 

Sew face half way down, sew neck to neck of body, fill head & sew rem of face. 

With green, work running st down front of face & both front legs. 

Attach ears, eyes, & nose as shown. 

With yellow make French knot in center of each eye. 

Sew collar around neck
