Vintage 1970s Mod Lace
Cover-Up #1331
Fashion (and
fun) for beach and pool parties: collect the shells then crochet this cover-up.
MATERIALS:
7 (8, 8) balls Sirdar 6 ply, Goldseal Wash
'n' Wear (40g)
1 Crochet Hook #4.50
Shells for trimming
GAUGE/ TENSION:
5 ch. loop to 3 cm (1in.)
MEASUREMENTS:
Bust = 81 (86, 91) cm – 32” (34”-36”)
Length = 132 cm (52”)
Sleeve = 41cm (16”)
BACK:
Beg at shoulder, make 14 CH.
FOUNDATION ROW: 1 DC in 8th ch
from hk, * 5 CH, sk 2 CH, 1 DC in next CH, rep from * once.
PATTERN ROW: 7 CH, * 1 DC in 3rd
CH of 5 CH lp, 5 CH, rep from * to end, work last DC in 5th of TCH prev row.
Rep last row 4 times. Do not break off yarn.
Work 2nd shoulder piece to match, using
separate yarn, work 27 (31-35) CH, loosely at end of last row, join with sl st to 1st
shoulder at beg of last row. Break off 2nd shoulder.
NEXT ROW: 7 CH, 1 DC in next lp, 5 CH, 1 DC

Change to 7 ch. loops with 9 ch. to turn work 4 rows, work 4 rows in 9 ch. loops, 3 rows 11 ch. loops, 2 rows 13 ch. loops, cont, in 15 ch. loops to desired length, allowing for stretch when trimmed with shells, and turning with extra 2 ch. for each row.

MAKE UP:
Using flat-st. join shoulder seams, set sleeves to armholes, sew in position, join side and sleeve seams.
