Vintage 1970s Mod Amalfi Mini Dress Quick-Knit #1325
SIZE:
Small [8-10], Medium [12-14] & Large [16-18]
Directions are for size Small with changes for Medium & Large in brackets.
MEASUREMENTS:
Bust: 32 1/2'” [35 ½”-39”]
MATERIALS:
Columbia-Minerva Nantuk, 4-Ply, 2 oz Skein:
2 [3-4] Imperial Blue [A]
3 [3-4] Larkspur [B]
3 [3-4] Plum [C]
1 Pair Big Boye Knitting Needles Size 35 ¾”
1 Crochet Hook Size K
GAUGE/TENSION:
4 Sts = 3”
Work with 3 strands of color held tog.
NOTE:
Dress meas 34” [34 ½”-35”] from hem to back of neck, allow 1” for stretch.
To lengthen or shorten, make adjustment before armhole.
BACK:
With A, cast on 27 [31-33] sts.
1ST ROW [RS]: K3, * P3 [4-3], K3, rep from * across. Mark RS.
2ND ROW: P3, * K3 [4-3], P3, rep from * across.
Rep 1st & 2nd rows 7 times more.
17TH ROW: K3, * P2 tog, P1 [2-1], K3, rep from * across.
Cont in rib patt for 4 more rows.
P 1 row, inc 1 at end ON SMALL & LARGE ONLY.
Work on 24 [27-29] sts:
* With B – K 1 row & P 1 row for 5 rows.
With A – P 1 row.
With C – K 1 row & P 1 row for 5 rows.
With A – P 1 row.
Rep from * for stripe patt, work to 26”, end on RS.
ARMHOLES:
Bind off 2, P to last 2, bind off 2 sts.
Join yarn.
Disc stripes after next B stripe.
Work with A only to 6” [6 ½”-7”] above underarm.
SHOULDERS:
Bind off 3 at beg off next 2 [4-2] rows, then ON SMALL & LARGE ONLY bind off 2 [4] at beg of next 2 rows.
Bind off 10 [11-11] for neck.
FRONT:
With A – cast on 27 [30-33].
1ST ROW [RS]: P3, * K3, P3 [4-3] rep from * across, end K3, P3. Mark RS.
Cont in rib patt for 15 more rows.
17TH ROW: P3, * K3, P2 tog, P1 [2-1], rep from * across, K3, P3.
Cont in rib patt for 4 more rows.
P 24 [27-29] sts.
Work same as back to 4 ½” [5”-5 ½”] above underarm – 20 [23-25] sts.
NECK & SHOULDERS:
Work 8 [9-10] & sl them to holder, bind off center 4 [5-5], work to end.
Dec 1 st at neck EVERY row 3 times & AT SAME TIME when armhole matches back armhole, bind off 3 at armhole 1 [2-1] times.
SMALL & LARGE ONLY, bind off 2 [4] at same edge once.
Start at neck & work other side.
COLLAR:
With A, cast on 48 sts.
K3 & P3 in ribbing for 3 rows.
4TH ROW: * K3, P2 tog, P1, rep from * across.
Work 1 row in patt.
6TH ROW: * K3, P2 tog, rep from * across.
Work 4 rows.
Bind off 32.
Seam shoulders & sides.
Join ends of collar [center back]. Sew to neck.
On RS with A - crochet 1 row of SC around armholes.
