Vintage 1966 Mod Bobble Sweater Jacket #1406

This bobble jacket, an asset in any spring wardrobe, is soft & light to wear. Note the pretty lace trimming on all outer edges.

MATERIALS:
23 [25,27] Balls Emu Bri-Nylon Double Knitting
1 Each Crochet Hook #6 & #7
6 Buttons [or Button Moulds]

MEASUREMENTS:
Bust = 34” [36”,38”]
Length = 23 ½” [24”, 24 ½”]
Sleeves [All Sizes] = 15”

TENSION:
4 Patts = 3” Width

SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS:
1 BOBBLE = [yoh, insert hk into sp & draw up lp ¾” in length] 3 times, yoh & draw thru all lps.
PICOT = 3 CH, 1 DC into 1st of 3 CH
SHELL = [1 picot, 1 TR] 4 times into same sp.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
DC [UK] = SC [US]
TR [UK] = DC [US]

PATTERN:
1ST ROW: 1 Bobble in 5th CH from hk, 1 CH, sk 2 CH, 1 TR in next CH, 2 CH, * 1 bobble in next CH, 1 CH, sk 2 CH, 1 TR in next CH, 2 CH, rep from * to end.

2ND ROW: 1 Bobble in top of 1st bobble, 1 CH, * sk next sp, 1 TR, 2 CH, 1 bobble in next sp, 1 CH, rep from * end with 1 TR in last lp, 3 CH, turn.

Rep 2nd row incl.

BACK:
Use #6 hk, CH 72 [76,80], plus 4 CH for TCH.

Work in patt until back meas 15” [15 ½”,16”].

SHAPE ARMHOLES:
Sl st over 6 sts, patt to last 6 sts, turn.

Cont straight until armholes meas 7 ½” [all sizes]. Fasten off.

LEFT FRONT:
Use #6 hk, CH 40 [44, 48], plus 4 CH for TCH.

Work in patt to armhole.

SHAPE ARMHOLE:
With RS facing, sl st over 6 sts, patt to end, turn.

Cont straight until armhole meas 5”, end at armhole edge.

SHAPE NECK:
Patt to last 6 sts, turn.

Keep armhole edge straight, dec at neck edge 1 bobble every row until 4 bobbles rem. Fasten off.

RIGHT FRONT:
Work to corres with left front, reversing all shapings.

SLEEVES:
Use #7 hk, CH 48 [52,56], plus 4 CH for TCH.

Work in patt for 7”.

Change to #6 hk & cont until work meas 14” or needed length.

SHAPE TOP:
NEXT ROW: Sl st over 6 sts, work to last 6 sts, turn.

Dec 1 patt each end every row until 2 patts rem. Fasten off.

FINISHING:
Use flat seam, join shoulder, side & sleeve seams.

Sew in sleeves.

EDGING FOR NECK, FRONTS, LOWER EDGE, & SLEEVES:
Beg at lower right front, use #6 hk.

1ST RND: 1 TR, 1 CH into every sp around fronts, neck & lower edge, join with sl st.

2ND RND: * 1 Shell into sp, sk 1 sp, [1 DC into next sp] twice, sk 1 sp, rep from * to end. Fasten off.

Work edging around sleeves in same manner.

BUTTONS:
Use #7 hk, CH 2, work 6 DC into 1st CH.

2ND RND: * 2 DC into next DC, 1 DC in next DC, rep from * to end.

3RD RND: Rep 2nd rnd.

4TH RND: 1 DC in each DC to end.

Fasten off, leave length of thread, place over button mould & draw in firmly at shank.

FINISHING:
Press lightly with dry cloth & cool iron.

Sew buttons in place
