Vintage 1966 Apricot Ice Dress #1405

Shapely dream of a dress with stunning surface interest due to clever stitch combination. Most important…it’s easy to make.

MATERIALS:
21 [23,25,27,28] Balls Villawool VIP Banlon
1 Aero Crochet Hook #8

MEASUREMENTS:
Bust = 32” [34”,36”,38”,40”]
Length [All Sizes] = 37”
Sleeves [All Sizes] = 9”

TENSION:
4 DC = 1”

NOTE:
CLUSTER [CL] = [yo, insert hk, draw yarn thru] 4 times, yo & draw thru all lps, 1 CH.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
DC [UK] = SC [US]
TR [UK] = DC [US]

PATTERN:
1ST ROW: 1 DC in 2nd CH from hk, 1 DC in each CH to end. 1 CH for TCH.

*2ND ROW:  DC to end. 3 CH for TCH.

3RD ROW: [Sk 1 DC, 1 CL in next DC] rep, end 1 TR in last DC, 1 CH, turn.

4TH ROW: 1 DC in each CH to end, 1 DC in 3rd CH of TCH, 1 CH for turn.

5TH ROW: DC to end, 1 CH for turn.

6TH & 7TH ROWS: Rep 5th row.*

Rep from * to * incl.

BACK:
CH 68 [72,76,80,84], plus 1 CH for turn & work in patt.

Cont until work meas 29” [or needed length].

SHAPE ARMHOLES:
**1ST ROW: Sl st over 2 [3,4,5,6] DC, patt to last 2 [3,4,5,6] DC, turn.

2ND ROW: Patt to end.

3RD ROW: Sl st over 1 [1,2,2,3] DC, work to last 1 [1,2,2,3] DC, turn.**

Work 3 rows then dec 1 DC each end of next row.

Rep last 4 rows once. [58,60,60,62,62 DC rem].

Cont until armholes meas 7 ¼” [7 ½”,7 ½”,7 ¾”,7 ¾”].

SHAPE SHOULDERS:
NEXT ROW: Sl st over 4 DC, work to last 4 DC, turn.

Rep last row twice more & fasten off.

FRONT:
Work same as back.

SLEEVES:
CH 34 [36,40,42,46], plus 1 CH for TCH & work in patt.

Inc 1 DC each end of every 6th row 6 times altogether. [46,48,52,54,58 DC].

Cont until sleeves meas 9” [or needed length.]

Rep from ** to ** of armhole shaping same as back, then dec 1 DC each end of every 2nd row until 12 DC [all sizes] rem. Fasten off.

FINISHING:
Press work lightly & carefully on WS.

Use small back st, sew up shoulder seams, & press open.

Flat sew side & sleeve seams, & press open.

Set sleeves smoothly into armholes.

Work 1 row DC around neck edge & join with sl st.
