opening by working off 2 sc as 1 sc until opening is closed. Fasten off.
FINISHING:
Sew underarm & shoulder seams
Sew
collar in place, leaving lapels free.
Attach
double thread at bottom of right underarm seam & work sc all around edges
of garment. Join.
2ND
RND: * Ch 2, sk 1 sc, sc in base of next
sc. Rep from * around. Join.
3RD
RND: * Ch 2, sc in sk sc of prev
rnd. Rep from * around. Fasten off.
Finish
edge of Belt in same way.
Sew
belt in position, from seam to seam across back.
Finish
edges of Pockets in same way.
Sew
edges of pocket slit tog, keeping edging uppermost.
Sew
on pockets as in photo.
Sew
on buttons.
Sew
sleeve seams & sew sleeves in making 4 pleats across top 5” at shoulder.
Work
edging around lower part of sleeve & onto outer part of sleeve for 2”,
working 1st row of sc thru sleeve sts.
Press
thru damp cloth.

in shoulder pads.
CALOT
HAT:
Ch 27 to meas 3 ½”.

ROW: Sc in 2nd ch from hk,
insert hk in next ch & pull lp thru, yo & draw thru 1 lp, yo & draw
thru 2 lps, [a ch-sc made], * sc in next ch, ch-sc in next ch. Rep from * across [26 sts]. Ch 1, turn.
[This is lower edge.]
2ND
ROW: * Sc in next ch-sc, ch-sc in next
sc. Rep from * across ending with ch-sc
in last sc [26 sts]. Do not ch to turn. [This is upper edge.]
Rep
2nd row until lower edge meas desired headsize [about 22”]. Fasten off.
Sew
narrow edges tog for back seam.
With
right side facing, attach thread at upper edge & work sc along upper edge
holding in slightly while working. Join
with sl st in 1st sc made.
2ND
RND: Ch 1, sc in base of next sc, * ch
1, sk 1 sc, sc in base of next sc. Rep
from * around. Do not join rnds.
3RD
RND: * Ch 1, sc in base on next sc
skipped on 2nd rnd. Rep from
* around. Fasten off.
With
wrong side facing, attach thread at lower edge & work sc all around, being
careful to preserve desired headsize.
Work
2nd & 3rd rnds same as edging on upper rnd. Fasten off.
BUTTONS:
