Free Pattern - 1940s Sophisticated Eyelet Purse #244

1940s Sophisticated Eyelet Purse #244 
Quick & easy to create, this delightful purse will become a season-spanning favorite!

MATERIALS: 
1 large spool Corde,
OR
Interchangeable with 3 gross Soutache, 4 gross Ribbonette, or 6 oz Straw
#5 Bone Crochet Hook
Lining Material
2 Handles 

BAG:
Ch 80 or desired size.

1ST ROW:  Work * 8 dc into 4th ch from hook, sk 3 chs, work 1 sc into 4th, stitch sk 3 chs, rep from * across, end row with 4 dc, turn [do not ch].

2ND ROW:  * Work 4 dc bet 2nd & 3rd, dc of 1st 8 dc group.  Work 4 dc around last 4 dc just made [completely covering 1st group of 4 dc].  Work 1 sc bet 4th & 5th dc of same 8 dc group.  Rep from * across, end row 4 dc [each row must end same as 1st row].

Rep 2nd row until 12 rows in all, or desired depth. 

Work other half to correspond.

GUSSET: 
Ch 9, turn, work 1 sc into each of the next 8 chs, ch 1, turn, work sc into each st [back loop only] until desired length to fill around sides & bottom of bag. 

Crochet tog with right side of work facing you.

FINISHING: 
Make paper patt for each crocheted piece before joinings & lay aside to be used later.

Cut lining according to paper patts & sew tog. 

Shirr lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.

Insert finished lining in bag. 

Sew in zipper [if desired].

Attach handles.

Note: 
Cardboard or lightweight plastic may be inserted between bag & lining to give shape of bag extra support.
