ROW: Sc in first dc, * ch 5, sc in next
sp. Rep from * across, end with ch 5, sc
in 3rd ch of turning ch. Ch

ROW: Sc in first lp, * ch 5, sc in next
lp. Rep from * across. Turn.
NOW
WORK IN RNDS AS FOLLOWS:
1ST
RND: Ch 5, 3 dtr in first lp & in
each lp around. Join with sl st to top
of ch-5.
2ND
RND: Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 5,
sk next dtr, sc in next dtr. Rep from *
around, end with ch 2, dc in first sc.
3RD
& 4TH RNDS: * Ch 5, sc in
next lp. Rep from * around, end with ch
2, dc in dc.
5TH
THRU 16TH RNDS: Rep 1st
thru 4th rnds 3 more times.
Break off at end of last rnd.
BODICE:
Attach
thread to opposite side of starting ch on skirt:
1ST
ROW: Ch 3, 2 dc in each sp across. Ch 4, turn.
2ND
ROW: Sk first 2 dc, * dc in next dc, ch
1, sk next dc. Rep from * across, end
with ch 1, dc in top of ch-3. Ch 3,
turn.
3RD
ROW: 2 Dc in each sp across. Break off.
SLEEVE:
Attach
thread to 6th dc, ch 10, sk next 8 dc, sl st in next dc. Turn.
NOW
WORK IN RNDS AS FOLLOWS:
1ST
RND: 2 Sc in first ch, 2 hdc in next ch,
2 dc in next ch, 2 tr in next ch, 2 dtr in each of next 2 ch, 2 tr in next ch,
2 dc in next ch, 2 hdc in next ch, 2 sc in last ch, sc in each st at
underarm. Join to first sc.
2ND
RND: Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 3,
sk next st, sc in next st. Rep from
around. Join.
3RD
& 4TH RNDS: Sl st to
center of next lp, sc in same lp, * ch 3, sc in next lp. Rep from * around. Join.
5TH
RND: Sc in each lp around. Join.
6TH
RND: Ch 3, dc in each sc around. Join & break off.
Leave
9 dc free at front of bodice, attach thread to next dc, ch 10, sk next 8 dc, sl
st in next dc & complete second sleeve to match.
Attach
thread to neck opening, sc closely around opening. Break off.
HAT:
1ST
RND: Ch 4, 13 dc in 4th ch
from hk, join.
2ND
RND: Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 3,
sc in next dc. Rep from * around. Join.
3RD
& 4TH RNDS: * Sc in next
lp, ch 3. Rep from * around. Join.
5TH
RND: 2 Sc in each lp around. Join.
6TH
& 7TH RNDS: Sc in each sc
around. Join.
8TH,
9TH & 10TH RNDS:
Rep 2nd, 3rd & 4th rnds.
11TH
RND: Sl st in next lp, ch 3, 2 dc in
same lp, 3 dc in each lp around. Join.
12TH
RND: Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 3,
sk next dc, sc in next dc. Rep from *
around. Join & break off.
Sew
2 snap fasteners to back of bodice.
Cut
piece of narrow velvet ribbon 24” long for sash.
Tie
around waist in bow.
Place
piece of ribbon around crown of hat & tie in bow at back.
PANTIES:
With
white & #6 hk, ch 38 loosely to fit around waistline, dc in 4th
st from hk, 1 dc in each rem st of ch, ch 3, turn.
2ND
ROW: 1 Dc in each of next 3 dc, 2 dc in
next dc, * 1 dc in each of next 5 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * across row,
end with 1 dc in last st, join in 3rd st of 1st ch 3.
3RD
& 4TH ROWS: Ch 3 [counts
as 1 dc], 1 dc in each dc, join in 3rd st of ch.
5TH
ROW: Ch 3, 1 dc in each of next 10 dc,
sk 21 dc, 1 dc in each of next 10 dc, join.
6TH
ROW: * Ch 3, sc in next st, rep from *
all around, cut thread.
Attach
thread at crotch & finish other leg in same manner.
Work
row of sc around top of panties, working loosely, then work row of sc around
side opening, cut thread.
Tie
with ribbon on side.
If
desired, make an underskirt of crinoline [net] & taffeta.
