GAUGE:
6 sc = 1”
6 rnds = 1”

NOTE:
Use thread doubled throughout.

HAT:
Start at center of crown with White, ch 2.

Red & sc in each sc around for 1”. Ch 1, turn.
NEXT RND: * 2 Sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc. Rep from * around. Join &

Place
marker 3½” from each side of center back.
Attach
thread to 1st marker & work in short rows as follows:
1ST ROW: Sl st in next 2 sc, sc in each sc across to within 3 sc of
next
marker, sl st in next 3 sc. Break off.
2ND & 3RD ROWS: Attach thread to sc preceding 1st sl st, sc over each sl st into sc below, sc in each sc across, sc over each sl st,
sl st in next sc. Break off.
At
end of 3rd row do not break off, but work all around as follows:
1ST RND: Sc in
each sc across back on last rnd made, sc in each sc across short row & in
each sl st.
2ND - 10TH RNDS INCL: Sc in each sc around. Join & break off
at end of 10th rnd.
BALL FRINGE [MAKE 16]:
Use Red single, start at center, ch 2.

2ND RND: Inc 4 sc evenly around.
3RD, 4TH & 5TH RNDS: Sc in each sc around.

up opening.

around Hat, space them evenly apart.
BAG:
Start at center of bottom with Red, ch 27.

ch; work along opposite side of starting chain, make sc in each ch
across.
2ND RND: * 2 Sc in next 3 sc, sc in each sc across
to next 3 sc group. Rep from * once more.
3RD - 7TH RNDS INCL: Sc in each sc around, inc 3 sc evenly on
each end.
Mark
last inc rnd.
Work
without inc until piece meas 5½” from last inc rnd. Join & break off.
FLAP:
Fold Bag in half, place marker in center sc of one side, mark off 5 sc on each side of center sc [back of Bag].

1ST ROW: Attach thread to 1st sc, sc in same place, sc in
next 10 sc, sl st in next sc. Turn.
2ND ROW: 2 Sc in 1st sc, sc in next 9 sc, 2 sc in next sc,
sc in next sc on Bag. Turn.
3RD ROW: 2 Sc in 1st sc, sc in each sc across Flap, 2 sc
in last sc, sc in next sc on Bag.
Rep
3rd row, inc where nec to keep work flat until all scs on back are used up.
Break off.
HANDLE:
Start at narrow edge, ch 8.

Rep 2nd

7 ball fringe as for Hat & sew to Flap.
Cut
piece of cardboard or plastic to fit bottom.
Line
Bag with material.
Sew
in zipper.

“HOW-TO” INSTRUCTIONS:
1. MAKE TWISTED CORD:
Cut
strands as directed.
Knot
ends & put knotted end over a stationary hook.
Twist
strands until they buckle; then double piece & slip other end over hook.
Twist
in opposite direction & knot free ends to prevent raveling.
Draw
cords in opposite directions through beading. Tie & trim ends.
2. LINE FRAME BAGS:
1ST: Meas inside edge of 1 side of Metal Bag
Frame; add 1”. This is width of lining.
2ND: Meas height of crocheted piece, incl ½
of bottom of bag [if there is one]; add 1”. This is length of lining.
3RD: Cut 4 pieces of lining material, follow
above meas.
4TH: Cut 2 pieces of crinoline ½” shorter, but same width as lining pieces.
5TH: With right sides facing, sew 2 pieces of lining tog along 1 width & 2 height edges, allow ½” for seams.
Sew 2 crinoline pieces
in same way.
Slip lining piece inside
crinoline piece, turn lining over at top edge & tack [right side of lining
is inside].
Sew 3 edges of rem 2
lining pieces. Turn right side out.
Slip crinoline piece
inside this piece.
Turn top edge down
between other thicknesses & sew in place.
Top edge of lining
should be same meas as inner edge of open frame.

1ST: Meas ½ of top edge of crocheted bag.
This is width of lining.
