Vintage Infant’s Lace 3-Piece Knit Set #B214
MATERIALS:
4 oz 3-Ply Baby Yarn
OR
5 oz 3-Ply Pompadour
1 Pair Knitting Needles #1
1 Pair Knitting Needles #3
1 Bone Crochet Hook #3

LACE PATTERN:
1ST ROW: * P2, K3, rep from * across row, end P2.

2ND ROW: * K2, P3, rep from * across row, end with K2.

3RD ROW: Rep 1st row.

4TH ROW: Rep 2nd row.

5TH ROW: * P2,, YO, sl 1 st, K2TOG, psso K2TOG, YO; rep from * across row, end with P2.

6TH ROW: * K2, P3; rep from * across row [be sure to P YOs – you should have same # of sts you started with].

Rep these 6 rows for patt.

SWEATER:
Use #3 needles, cast on 82 sts.

Work in lace patt for 6 ½”.

From now on work in ribbing of K1, P1, for yoke.

UNDERARM:
Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows [once each side].

Dec 1 st at each side of the work every other row 4 times.

Now work even in ribbing until armhole meas 3 ¼” above underarm bind off.

Bind off all sts loosely, K the K sts, P the P sts.

RIGHT FRONT:
Cast on 47 sts & work in lace patt until piece meas 6 ½” in all.

From now on work in ribbing of K1, P1, for rem of yoke.

UNDERARM: [WRONG SIDE]:
Bind off 2 sts at once.

Dec 1 st at underarm edge every other row 4 times.

Work even in ribbing until piece meas 2 ¼” above underarm.

NECK SHAPING: [RIGHT SIDE]:
Bind off 14 sts, finish row.

Dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 4 times.

Then when armhole meas 3 ¼” in all, bind off all sts loosely.

LEFT FRONT:
Work as Right Front until you come to underarm bind off.

UNDERARM: [RIGHT SIDE]:
Bind off 2 sts once. Finish rem of sweater to corres to right front.

SLEEVES:
Use #1 needles, cast on 48 sts & work in ribbing of K1, P1 for 1”.

On last row of ribbing, inc to 57 sts.

Change to #3 needles & work in lace patt until sleeve meas 6 ½” in all.

UNDERARM:
Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows [once each side].

Still keep in patt, dec 1 st at each side of work, every other row 4 times.

Bind off all sts very loosely.

Make 2nd sleeve in same way.

FINISHING:
Sew shoulders & side seams.

Sew up sleeve seams & sew into armhole, matching underarm seams.

CROCHET EDGE: [RIGHT SIDE]:
Use #3 hk, attach yarn at corner of right front at neck edge, keep work flat, work across neck edge in SC; 2 SC in corner, SC down left front & across bottom of sweater & up right front to starting point.

BEADING:
CH 3, 1 DC in next st, * sk 1 SC, 1 DC in each of next 2 sts; CH 2; rep from * across neck edge. Fasten off.

BONNET:
Use #3 needles, cast on 92 sts & work in ribbing of K1, P1, for 1 ¼”.

Now work in lace patt until piece meas 5 ½” total, & end with 6th row.

BACK PIECE:
Loosely bind off 30 sts at beg of next 2 rows.

On rem 32 sts, work until piece meas same length as bound off sts.

Bind off loosely all sts.

Sew back piece to bound off edges.

Turn back 1” at front of bonnet & tack down at sides.

NECK BAND:
Use #1 needles, pick up & K91 sts across neck edge.

Work in ribbing of K1, P1, for 5 rows.

Bind off loosely.

BOOTIES:
Use #3 needles, cast on 42 sts & work in lace patt until piece meas 2 ½”, end with 6th row.

INSTEP:
K15 sts, place these sts onto st holder, K12 sts & leave on needle, place rem sts onto 2nd st holder.

Work on these 12 sts for 19 rows, K every row. Fasten off.

Place sts off 1st st holder back onto free needle; tie yarn at 1st st, pick up & K14 sts along side of instep; K the 12 sts; pick up & K 14 sts along side of instep; K 15 sts off 2nd st holder = 70 sts.

K 5 rows.

1ST DEC: K1, K2TOG, K23, K2TOG, K14, K2TOG, K23, K2TOG, K1.

K 3 rows.

2ND DEC: K1, K2 TOG, K21, K2TOG, K14, K2TOG, K21, K2TOG, K1.

K 2 rows.

Bind off all sts loosely.

Sew up back & sole of bootie.

Make 1 row of SC around top of bootie.

Make 2nd bootie in same way.
