GAUGE:
6 sc = 1"

BAG:
Start at center of 1 narrow end of basket # 265, work 3 sc ½" down from each point along edge, have even number of sts around. Join with sl st in front lp of 1st sc.

1ST RND: Ch 1, sc in
same place as sl st, * sc in back lp of next sc, sc in front lp of next sc. Rep
from * around, end with sc in back lp of last sc. Join with sl st in front lp
of 1st sc.
2ND TO 7TH RNDS INCL: Rep 1st rnd.
At end of 7th rnd join with sl st in back lp of 1st sc.
8TH RND: Ch 3, dc in
back lp of 2nd sc, dc in back lp of each sc around. Join with sl st
in 3rd st of starting ch-3.
9TH RND: Ch 1, sc in
same place as sl st, sc in back lp of each dc. Join with sl st in front lp of 1st
sc.
Rep 1st to 9th rnds incl once; then 1st
to 7th rnds incl once more.
Place 4 pins in last rnd in line with 4 corners of basket.
Place 2 pins in each long edge evenly spaced bet corners = 8
pins.
NEXT RND: Ch 3, * dc
in back lp of each sc to 1 st before pin, ch 3, sk 3 sc. Rep from * around.
Join = 8 eyelets.
Rep 9th rnd; then 1st to 7th rnds
incl. Sl st loosely in each sc. End off.
RINGS:
Work sc closely over each ring. Join & end off.
Work sc closely over each ring. Join & end off.
Sew ring to right side around each eyelet.
DRAWSTRING:
Cut 18 strands of Belastraw each 50" long.
Cut 18 strands of Belastraw each 50" long.
Knot strands tog at 1 end.
Divide into 3 equal parts & make flat braid. Knot free end.
Start at center of 1 long edge, pull drawstring thru eyelets.
Fold narrow ends in toward center of bag to form gussets &
press.
SHOULDER STRAP:
Cut twelve 4-yd strands of Belastraw & wind on spool.
Cut twelve 4-yd strands of Belastraw & wind on spool.
Wind 2 more spools same as this.
Braid flatly & fasten ends.
Fold braid in half & sew edges tog on wrong side.
Trim to desired length & sew in place.
Line with lining material, reinforced with crinoline.
HAT:
Cut piece of string same length as desired headsize.
Cut piece of string same length as desired headsize.
Follow 1 rnd of straw, pin string to Basket Bag Bottom # 266, have
ends of string meet.
To sep center from what will be brim of hat, cut stitching very
carefully all around, follow string guide.
Then cut joining straw strip at point of separation.
With needle & thread sew end of straw down onto brim.
CROWN:
Work in groups of 2 sc, work 130 sc evenly all around ½" in from inner edge of brim. Join with sl st in front lp of 1s sc.

Rep 1st to 9th rnds of Bag 3 times.
Then 1st to 7th rnds incl once more. End
off.
Fold last rnd to inside of Crown & whip to 1st rnd.
Drape to suit individual taste & tack.
HAT
BAND:
Cut 18 strands of Belastraw, each 50" long & braid same as Drawstring of Bag.
Cut 18 strands of Belastraw, each 50" long & braid same as Drawstring of Bag.
Tie in place.
