Quick & easy to
create, this carry-all tote will become a season-spanning favorite…you‘ll want to recreate
in many colors!
MATERIALS:
Fleisher’s
Superior Knitting Worsted, 2 skeins; or
Bear
Brand-Bucilla Standard Knitting Worsted, 2 skeins
1
Pair #3 Knitting Needles

Lining
Material
GAUGE:
6 sts = 1”
6 sts = 1”
Cast
on 114 sts.
1ST
ROW: * K 2, p 2; rep from *, end k 2.
2ND
ROW: * P 2, k 2; rep from *, end p 2.
3RD
ROW: Same as 2nd row.
4TH
ROW: Same as 1st row. Rep these 4 rows until 19”, or a perfect
square. Bind off. Steam.
CORDS:
Ch 28”. work 1 sl st in single thread at back of each st. Fasten off. Make 2 cords.

Fold
bag with the 4 points meeting at center.
Sew seams for 4 ¾” from fold, leaving 4 ¾” free at top for points.
Working
from right side, work a row of 1 sl st, ch 1 around each point keeping work
flat.
Line
bag to within ½” of top of seams [do not line points].
Beg
2” before a seam just above lining, draw cord thru bag from outside to
inside, then draw cord from inside to outside 2” after same seam; rep around
bag; sew ends of cord tog.
Draw
2nd cord thru bag in same way, starting from opposite side of bag.
PURSE
LINING INSTRUCTIONS:
Make
paper patt for each crocheted piece & lay aside to be used later.
Cut
lining according to paper patts & sew tog.
Shirr
lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.
Insert
finished lining in bag.
Note:
Cardboard or lightweight plastic may be inserted between bag & lining to give shape of bag extra support.
