Vintage Baby Long-Sleeve Onesie #B198

MATERIALS:
Chadwicks Red Heart Baby Wool, 1 oz, 5 Balls
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook #4
7 Small Buttons

GAUGE:
3 pattern sts = 1”
5 rows = 1”

PANTS:
FRONT:
Start at waistline, ch 61 to meas about 11”.

1ST ROW: Sc & dc in 2nd ch from hk, * sk 1 ch, sc & dc in next ch. Rep from * across. Ch 1, turn. 

2ND ROW: * Make sc & dc (patt st) in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROWS: Rep 2nd row, inc patt st at both ends of row every 2” 3 times – [to inc:  make patt st in both sts of 1st & last patt sts}. 

NEXT ROWS: Work straight until piece meas 6¼”.

NEXT ROWS: Dec 3 patt sts at both ends of each row 5 times – [to dec: 3 patt sts at beg of row, sl st across 1st 3 patt sts, at end of row, work to within last 3 patt sts, turn]. 

NEXT ROWS: Now work sc across, make 3 ch-5 lps. Fasten off.

Make another piece for BACK, omit lps.

BLOUSE:
FRONT:
(WORKED VERTICALLY):
Start at bottom of left underarm edge, ch 15 to meas 2½” & work 2 rows in patt st.

Ch 19 (start LEFT SHOULDER), turn. 

NEXT ROW: Sc in 2nd ch from hk & in next 17 ch; sc in each sc & in each dc across. Ch 1, turn. 

NEXT ROW: Sc in each sc across, pick up only back lp of each st.

NEXT ROWS: Rep this last row until sc-section meas 1¼”.

NEXT ROWS: Work 4 rows in patt st. 

NEXT ROW: Work in patt st, dec 5 patt sts at shoulder edge (SHAPE NECK).

NEXT ROWS: Work 2 more patt rows (patt section should meas 1¼” deep).

NEXT ROWS: Keep neck edge straight, work 1¼” of sc, 1¼” of patt st & 1¼” of sc.

NEXT ROW: Ch 11 at neck edge (RIGHT SHOULDER) & work to corres with other end. Fasten off.

BACK:
Work as for Front, make neck edge 3 patt sts lower than shoulder edge.

SLEEVES:
Start at bottom, ch 37 to meas about 7” & work 8” in patt. Fasten off.

WAISTBAND:
Ch 11. 

1ST ROW: Sc in 2nd ch from hk & in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 

2ND ROW: Sc in each sc, pick up only back lp of each st. Ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROWS: Rep this row for 18”. Fasten off.

SLEEVE BANDS:
Ch 16 & work 5” as for waistband.

LEG BANDS:
Ch 7 & work 9” for waistband.

Sew up all side seams.

Sew waistband & leg bands in place, ease in fullness.

Start at armhole, seam shoulders for 1”.

Sew bands to sleeves & sew in sleeves.

NECK BAND:
Work band along front half of neck opening as for waistband for ½” in depth, dec at corners to keep work flat.

NEXT ROWS: Work band along Back in same way.

NEXT ROW: Work row of sc along shoulder openings, make 2 ch-5 lps on each side of Front.

Sew on buttons at shoulders & crotch.
