MATERIALS:
Hiawatha Super Glo Plastic Corde Art #56, 4 tubes
OR
Hiawatha Super Corde Art #38, 3 tubes

Steel Crochet Hook #0

BAG:
SIDES [MAKE 2]:
Ch 4, join with sl st into ring.

1ST RND:  Ch 3, work 24 dc loosely in ring.  Join with sl st to top of ch-3 [25 sts].

2ND RND:  Working rather tightly, draw up lp to meas ½”, ch 1, with thread behind work sc in next st [over small Lucite ring], * ch 1, sc in next st.  Rep from * around.  Join. 

Mark beg of rnd.

3RD RND:  Ch 1, work 2 sc in each ch-1 sp [50 sts].  Do not join.

Work 3 rnds sc even.

6TH RND:  Over large Lucite ring, work same as 2nd rnd.  Join.

7TH RND:  Same as 3rd rnd [100 sc].

Work 2 rnds sc even.  Sl st in next st.

11TH RND:  Ch 3, * popcorn in next st – to make popcorn, work 5 dc in same place, drop lp from hk, insert hk in 1st dc & draw dropped lp thru dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, dc in next st.  Rep from * [25 popcorns].  Join.

12TH RND:  Sc in each popcorn & in each dc [125 sts].

Work sc even until side is 7” across.  Sl st in next st.  Fasten off.


GUSSET:
Ch 12.

1ST ROW:  Sc in 2nd ch from hk & in next 10 ch [11 sc].  Ch 1, turn.

2ND ROW:  Sc in each st.  Ch 1, turn.

Rep 2nd row for 12 ½”.  Ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROW:  Work 5 sts.  Ch 1, turn.

Work these 5 sts only for 9 ½”, ending at center edge.  Fasten off.

Sk center st.  Join thread to next st & work rem 5 sts for same number of rows, forming slot for zipper.  Ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROW:  Sc to inner edge, ch 1, sc across 1st section of slot.

Work even for ½”.  Fasten off.

HANDLE:
Work same as gusset until piece is 12” long.  Fasten off.

FINISHING:
Cut 2 cardboard [or plastic] circles size of sides.

Cover with lining.

Cut buckram collar width of gusset & long enough to go around circles.

Thru center of collar, cut out slot to insert zipper [3/4” wide & 9” long}.

Make lining to cover collar, inserting zipper & reinforcing closed section with cardboard.

Sew lining covered collar bet sides of lining.

Enclose lining in crocheted pieces.

Sew short ends of gusset.

Line handle & sew in place.

Attach ornamental pull to zipper tab.
