Vintage 1944 Triangle Bracelet Bag #260

Quick & easy to create, this Bracelet bag will become a season-spanning favorite…
you‘ll want to recreate in many colors!

MATERIALS: 
Fleisher’s Bear Brand Sport Yarn, 2 skeins;
OR
Fleisher’s Bear Brand Stocking Yarn, 2 skeins
#2 Crochet Hook
Lining Material
2 Wooden Rings 4 ½” for Handles

GAUGE: 
6 sts = 1”;    
11 rows = 2”

BAG:
FIRST HALF: 
1ST ROW [RIGHT SIDE]:  Ch 85, 1 sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 dc in next st, * 1 sc in next st, 1 dc in next st; rep from * to end.

2ND ROW:  Ch 1, turn, * 1 sc in dc, 1 dc in sc; rep from * to end [84 sts]. 

Rep 2nd row until 1” from beg.

**1ST DEC ROW:  Ch 1, turn, sk first dc [a dec], 1 dc in next sc, work patt to end.

2ND DEC ROW:  Same as first dec row, end 1 sc in last dc [82 sts].

NEXT ROW:  Ch 3, turn [ch 3 counts as 1 dc], 1 sc in next dc, work patt across, end 1 sc in last dc, ch 3, turn. 

Work patt as in last row, with last sc in top of ch 3, for 1 ½”, incl 2 dec rows.

3RD DEC ROW:  Ch 1, turn, sk first sc, 1 sc in next dc, finish row.

4TH DEC ROW:  Same as 3rd dec row, end 1 dc in last sc. 

Work patt as for 2nd row for 1 ½”, incl the 2 dec rows [80 sts]. 

Rep from ** until there are 72 sts in row. 

Work even until 9 ½” from beg, end on wrong side.  Fasten off.

TURN-OVER FOR RING: 
Beg at end of foundation ch & work on opposite side of ch [right side], make loop on hook, work 1 sc in first st, 1 dc in next st; rep across row [84 sts]. 

Work same as First Half until 9 ½” above foundation ch, end on wrong side [72 sts].  Fasten off.

TURN-OVER FOR RING: 
Turn, sk first 18 sts, work in back loop only, make loop on hook & work patt on center 36 sts. 

Work 7 more rows on these 36 sts, work thru both loops.  Fasten off.

FLAP: 
Folding last 8 rows over toward wrong side, work in 36 free loops at center as follows:  make loop on hook, work * 1 sc in first free loop, 1 dc in next *; rep bet *’s 6 times, then work ** 1 sc & 1 dc in next loop **; rep bet **’s 7 times, rep bet *’s 7 times [44 sts]. 

Work 11 rows even.

1ST DEC ROW:  Ch 1, turn, sk first dc, 1 dc in next sc, work patt to within 1 st of end [1 st dec each end; 42 sts].

2ND DEC ROW:  Ch 1, turn, sk first sc, 1 sc in next dc, work to within 2 sts of end, sk next sc, 1 dc in last dc [40 sts].  Rep last 2 rows until 20 sts in row.

BUTTONHOLE ROW: 
Dec as before, next 6 sts in patt, ch 6, sk 6 sts, finish row, dec 1 st at end as before.

NEXT ROW:  Dec as before working patt on 6 ch sts. 

Cont decs every row until these are 6 sts in last row.  Fasten off. 

Working from wrong side of flap [side with extra piece for turnover], work 1 sc in end st of first row, * ch 1, 1 sc in end st of next row; rep from * around entire flap [working ch 1 & 1 sc in each st on point].  Fasten off.

FINISHING: 
Steam lightly. 

Sew side seams. 

Fold straight piece over ring & hem on wrong side. 

Line bag. 

Turn in both points at lower edge for 1” [making square corners]. 

Take points in place to inside of bag & sew 2” seam on outside edge with side seam at center. 

Fold in top edge on each side of bag, as illustrated & press. 

Sew on button.
