BAG:
1ST ROW: Ch 61, turn. Sk first ch, work 1 sc in each of next 10 sts, * 1 dc in next st, 1 sc in next st; rep from * over next 9 sts [11 sts], then work 1 sc in each of next 18 sts; rep bet *’s once. Work 1 sc in each of rem 10 ch sts.
1ST ROW: Ch 61, turn. Sk first ch, work 1 sc in each of next 10 sts, * 1 dc in next st, 1 sc in next st; rep from * over next 9 sts [11 sts], then work 1 sc in each of next 18 sts; rep bet *’s once. Work 1 sc in each of rem 10 ch sts.
2ND
ROW: Ch 1, turn. Work 1 sc in each st across row [60 sts].
3RD
ROW: Rep 1st row, working dc
around post of dc on 1st row instead of into st [cable st], & sc
into sc of 2nd row, directly above sc on row below.
Rep
2nd & 3rd rows until 29 rows in all have been made.
Make
second piece to match.
GUSSET
& BOTTOM OF BAG:
Ch 4, turn.
Ch 4, turn.
Sk
1 ch, work 1 sc in each of next 3 ch sts.
Work
back & forth in sc, inc 1 st at beg of every row to 22 sts.
Work
even on 22 sts for 9”, or desired length, then dec 1 st at beg of every row
until 3 sts rem.
Join
to lower edge & sides of bag with row of sc.
HANDLE
TABS:
Work in cable patt over 7 center sts of cable patt on bag for 3”, on all 4 ca ble patt stripes.
Work in cable patt over 7 center sts of cable patt on bag for 3”, on all 4 ca ble patt stripes.
Sew
over handles.
MISS
JULIA’S PURSE LINING NOTES:
[Before
joining finished pattern pieces]
Make
paper patt from crocheted pieces & lay aside to be used later.
Cut
lining according to paper patt & sew tog.
Shirr
lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.
Insert
finished lining in bag.
Sew
in zipper [if desired].
Attach
ornament to zipper pull tab [if desired].
Note: Cardboard
or lightweight plastic may be inserted between 2 layers of lining & bag to
give shape extra support.
