ROW: 1 Sc in 2nd st from hk,
* ch 5, sk 4 sts of ch, 1 sc in next st; rep from * to end [12 spaces/sps].
2ND
ROW: Ch 5, turn, 1 sc in center st of 1st
ch 5, * ch 5, 1 sc in center st of next ch 5; rep from * 10 times, ch 2, 1 dc
in last sc.
3RD
ROW: Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in dc of row
below, * ch 5, 1 sc in center st of next ch 5; rep from * 10 times, ch 5, 1 sc
in 3rd st of turning ch.
Rep
last 2 rows, until 15” from beg, end with 3rd patt row. Fasten off.
Steam
block, stretching piece to 8” in width & 18” in length.

Turn, working from wrong side of last row, with lp on hk, work 2 sc in last sc of 1st row of center piece [end st of foundation ch], work 8 sc in each sp on side edge, 3 sc in last sc of last row [corner], 3 sc in each sp of last row [top edge flap], 3 sc in 1st sc of last row [corner], work on other side & across foundation ch in same way, end 1 sc in same st as 1st sc, join with sl st to 1st sc.

st, drop lp from hk, insert hk in top of 1st dc of 5 dc group, draw
dropped lp thru, tighten lp [popcorn], 1 dc in same st as popcorn, * 1 popcorn
in next st, 1 dc in next st *; rep bet *’s to next corner, spacing sts so that
popcorn will come in 1st sc of corner group of 3 sc, work 1 dc, 1
popcorn & 1 dc all in next sc [corner inc]; rep bet *’s to next corner,
work corner inc as before, work other side edge to correspond, 1 dc, 1 popcorn
& 1 dc in corner sc, 1 sc in each st across 4th side of bag,
join with sl st in top of ch 3 at beg of rnd.

RND: 1 Sl st in 1st popcorn,

RND: Ch 3, 1 popcorn in joining st, cont
patt as 2nd rnd, with incs at corners, end with 1 popcorn in 1st
dc of last 3 dc group, 1 sc in next dc.
Fasten off.
FINISHING:
Fold bag with lower edge [without popcorns] 7” from top.
Fold bag with lower edge [without popcorns] 7” from top.
Sew
side edges, leaving 7” free for flap.
Line
bag with contrasting color, using interlining.
Fold
flap over evenly.

Make
paper patt from crocheted pieces & lay aside to be used later.
Cut
lining according to paper patt & sew tog.
Shirr
lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.
Insert
finished lining in bag.
Sew
in zipper [if desired].
Attach
ornament to zipper pull tab [if desired].
Note: Cardboard
or lightweight plastic may be inserted between 2 layers of lining & bag to
give shape extra support.
