#4 White Crochet Hook
BAG:
1ST ROW: Ch 111. Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hk & on all rem ch sts [110 sts]. Ch 1, turn.
1ST ROW: Ch 111. Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hk & on all rem ch sts [110 sts]. Ch 1, turn.
2ND
ROW: Work 1 sc in every st of prev row, taking back lp.
Rep
2nd row until 12 rows in all have been made. Fasten off.
Ch
40. Join to 41st sc of piece
just made with sc.
Work
1 sc over next 29 sc. Ch 41, turn.
Work
1 sc in 2nd ch from hk, 1 sc in each of next 39 ch sts, 1 sc in each
of next 30 sc, 1 sc in each of rem 40 ch sts [110 sts].
Work
back & forth on 110 sc just made, taking
back lp, for 11 rows. Fasten off.
INSERT:
Ch 12, turn.

Sk
1 st, work 1 sc in each of next 10 ch sts, 5 sc in next ch, 1 sc in each of 10
sc on other side of ch. Ch 1, turn.
Work
1 sc in each of 12 sc of prev row [always
taking back lp], 5 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of rem 12 sts.
Work
back & forth in sc, working 5 sc in center st of 5 sc of prev row, as
described above, until there are 40 sts on each side of insert.
FINISHING:
Sew inserts into points on each side of bag, formed by larger pieces.

1 row of beads on bag where inserts were joined, to cover seams.
BORDER:
String beads on strong thread & crochet 1 bead into each sc around entire edge.

MISS
JULIA’S PURSE LINING NOTES:

Make
paper patt from crocheted pieces & lay aside to be used later.
Cut
lining according to paper patt & sew tog.
Shirr
lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.
Insert
finished lining in bag.
Sew
in zipper [if desired].
Attach
ornament to zipper pull tab [if desired].
Note: Cardboard
or lightweight plastic may be inserted between 2 layers of lining & bag to
give shape extra support.
