Vintage 1940s Artistic Bow Clutch #251

Quick & easy to create, this artistic bow clutch will become a season-spanning favorite…you‘ll want to recreate in many colors!

MATERIALS:
1 large spool Black Corde
OR Interchangeable with 6 oz Straw
#5 Steel Crochet Hook
Lining Material
Zipper
Ornament

BAG:
Ch 14.  1ST ROW:  Work 1 sc in each of first 12 sts, 3 sc in last st, 1 sc in each st on opposite side of ch [12 sts] ch 1, turn.

2ND ROW:  Taking back loop only, work 1 sc in each of first 12 sts, 3 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st, 3 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of last 12 sts, ch 1, turn.

3RD ROW:  Work 1 sc in each of first 13 sts, 3 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, 3 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of last 13 sts.

4TH ROW:  Sl st over first 3 sts, * ch 11, sk 1 st, work 1 sc in next st; rep from * 4 times, sk 1 st, work 3 sc in next st [center st of inc of prev row], 1 sc in each of next 5 sts, 3 sc in next st, sk 1 st, 1 sc in next st, *
ch 11, sk 1 st, work 1 sc in next st; rep from * 4 times, ch 1, turn.

5TH ROW:  Sk 1 st, * work 1 sc in each of first 5 sts, of ch 11 [taking back loop].  3Sc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 5 sts, sk sc of prev row; rep from * 4 times, sk 2 sts, 3 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 7 sts, 3 sc in next st, sk 2 sts, * 1 sc in each of next 5 sts, 3 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 5 sts, sk sc of prev row: rep from * 4 times, ch 1, turn.

6TH ROW:  Sk first st, * work 1 sc in each of next 5 sts, 3 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 5 sts, sk 2 sts: rep from * 4 times, sk 2 sts, 3 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 9 sts, 3 sc in next st, sk 2 sts, work to end of row to correspond to other side. 

Rep 6th row inc 2 sts in the base on every row, until piece measures 12” across [about 29 rows].  Fasten off. 

Starting at inc end at lower edge of bag, work 8 additional rows of sc, inc 1 st at each end on every row.  Fasten off. 

Work other side to correspond.  Sl st both sides together.

Make paper patt for each crocheted piece.

Cut lining according to paper patts & sew tog. 

Shirr lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.

Insert finished lining in bag.  Sew in zipper.

Note:  Cardboard or lightweight plastic may be inserted between bag & lining to give shape of bag extra support.
