Baby’s 4-Piece Set, Sweater, Cap, Mittens & Bootees #B192

MATERIALS:
American Thread Company
Dawn Orlon High Bulk Fingering Yarn Or
Dawn Orlon Pompadour
5 oz White
2 oz Pink
Plastic Crochet Hook Size F
2 yds 1” Ribbon
2½ yds narrow Ribbon

GAUGE:
5 sts = 1”
5 rows = 1”

SWEATER:
With White start at Front, ch 33, sc in 2nd st from hk, dc in next st of ch, * sc in next st, dc in next st, rep from * across ch, ch 1, turn.

2nd ROW: Sc in 1st dc, dc in next sc, * sc in next dc, dc in next sc (patt], rep from * across row, ch 1, turn.

Rep 2nd row until Front meas 2”.

NEXT ROW: Work 12 sts in patt [underarm], ch 1, turn.

Work 3 rows even in patt, drop White.

Attach sep skein of White at other end of last row worked, ch 20 for Back Armhole, cut rem skein of yarn leave end to fasten later.

Pick up dropped yarn at opposite end [lower edge] & work in patt across 12 sts & each st of ch, ch 1, turn.

Work even in patt until Back meas 9” from center of Armhole opening end at lower edge.

NEXT ROW: Work 12 sts in patt, ch 1, turn.

Work 3 rows even.

Attach sep skein of yarn at opposite end of last row worked, ch 20, cut yarn.

Pick up yarn at lower edge & work 12 sts in patt, then work in patt across ch, ch 1, turn.

Work even in patt for 2” end at Neck Edge, cut White, turn.

NEXT ROW: Attach Pink & work in patt down Front, across lower edge & up other Front, work 3 sts in each corner at lower edge, turn, cut Pink.

NEXT ROW: Attach White & work in patt down Front, across lower edge & up oppo­site Front, work 3 sts in center st at each corner, ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROW: Same as last row, cut White, do not turn.

NEXT ROW: Attach Pink in 4th st from shoulder at opposite side & work in patt down Front, across lower edge & up opposite Front to within 3 sts from shoulder work 3 sts in center st at each corner, ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROW: Work in patt work 3 sts in center st at each corner, cut Pink, turn.

NEXT ROW: Attach White, keep patt uniform, work down Front, across lower edge & up opposite Front work 3 sts in center st at each corner, turn.

Work in patt, work 3 sts in center st at each corner, & work 2 more rows White, cut White, do not turn last row of White.

Work 5 rows Pink, cut Pink.

SLEEVES:
Start at Cuff with Pink ch 31, sc in 2nd st from hk, dc in next st, * sc in next st, dc in next st, rep from * across ch, ch 1, turn.

Work 2 more rows in patt, cut Pink.

4th ROW: Attach White & work 1 sc in each st, inc 8 sts evenly spaced across row, ch 1, turn.

Work in patt until Sleeve meas 4¾” from be­g.

NEXT ROW: Keep patt uniform inc 1 st at beg & end of row.

Work 2 rows even in patt.

NEXT ROW: Inc 1 st at beg & end of row.

Work even in patt until Sleeve meas 6” from beg, cut yarn.

Work other Sleeve in same manner.

Sew sleeve seams.

EDGE:
Attach Pink in seam, ch 1, dc in same sp, sl st in next st, * ch 1, dc in next st, sl st in next st, rep from * across row, join, cut yarn.

Sew shoulder seams & sew sleeves in position.

COLLAR:
With Pink & wrong side toward you, work 65 sc around neck edge, turn.

BEADING:
2nd ROW: Ch 3, sk 1 sc, sdc in next sc [sdc - yo hk, insert in st, pull lp thru, yo & work off all 3 lps at one time], * ch 1, sk 1 sc, sdc in next sc, rep from * around neck edge, ch 1, turn.

3rd ROW: 1 sc in same sp, * sc in next ch 1 sp, sc in next sdc, rep from * across row work an sc in 2nd st of end ch, ch 1, turn [64 sc].

Work in patt same as Sweater until Collar meas 1¾” from beading, end on wrong side, cut Pink.

NEXT ROW: With right side toward you attach Pink at beg of Collar & work edge same as sleeve edge, work around entire outside edge.

Lace ribbon thru beading.

CAP:
With White ch 69 to meas about 13”, sc in 2nd st from hk, dc in next st of ch, * sc in next st, dc in next st, rep from * across ch, ch 1, turn.

Work in patt same as Sweater until Cap meas 4¼”, cut yarn, turn.

BACK SECTION:
Sk 21 sts, attach White in next st & work in patt across 26 sts leave last 21 sts free, ch 1, turn.

Work in patt for 3 more rows, ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROW: Keep patt uniform, dec 1 st at beg & end of row.

Work 3 rows even in patt.

Rep last 4 rows twice, cut White.

With Pink crochet back seams tog on right side with a row of sc.

TURNBACK:
With right side of Cap toward you & with Pink, work 1 sc in each st of starting ch, ch 1, turn.

2nd ROW: Work thru back lps of sts only 1 sc in 1st sc, dc in next sc, * sc in next sc, dc in next sc, rep from * across row, drop Pink.

3rd ROW: Attach White & work thru both lps of sts, work in patt, ch 1, turn.

Work 1 more row in White, cut White. Pick up Pink & work 3 rows in patt, turn.

8th ROW: Ch 1, dc in same sp, sl st in next st, * ch 1, dc in next st, sl st in next st, rep from * across row, cut Pink.

NECK BAND:
With right side toward you attach White at lower edge & work 42 sc across neck edge work thru both thicknesses of Turnback, cut White, turn.

Attach Pink, sc in 1st sc, dc in next sc, * sc in next sc, dc in next sc, rep from * 
across row, turn.

NEXT ROW: Same as 8th row of Turnback, cut yarn.

Finish with ribbon ties.

BOOTIES:
SOLE:

With White ch 14, 3 sc in 2nd st from hk, 1 sc in each of  next 11 sts of ch, 3 sc in last st, work on other side of ch, 1 sc in each of  next 11 sts, do not join this or following rnds, place a marker at beg of each rnd.

2nd RND: * 2 sc in each of next 3 sc, 1 sc in each of next 11 sc, rep from * once.

3rd RND: * 1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * twice, 1 sc in each of next 12 sc, 2 sc in next sc, * 1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * once, 1 sc in each of next 11 sc.

4th & 5th RNDS: 1 sc in each sc on sides, inc 3 sc evenly spaced around each end in each rnd.

6th RND: 1 sc in each sc.

7th RND: Same as 4th rnd, sl st in next st to even rnd, ch 1, turn.

8th RND: 1 sc in each st, pick up entire st by inserting hk under entire st, join, ch 1, turn.

This forms ridge around Sole.

NEXT 3 RNDS: 1 sc in each sc, do not join rnds.

Fold in half lengthwise & mark center for toe.

12th RND: 1 sc in each sc, dec 3 sts evenly spaced around toe [to dec: * insert hk in next sc, pull lp thru, rep from * once, yo & work off all lps at 1 time].

NEXT ROW: 1 sc in each sc to within 4 sts from center of toe, then work in back lp of sts only, work 1 sc in each of  next 8 sc, work thru both lps of sts, sl st in each of  next 2 sc, ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROW: Sk 2 sl sts & work in back lp of sts, 1 sc in each of next 8 sc, work thru both lps of sts, sl st in each of next 2 sc on side of Bootie, ch 1, turn.

Rep last row 6 times.

NEXT ROW: Sk  2 sl sts, work in back lp of sts only, 1 sc in each of next 8 sc, sl st in same st as last sl st on side of Bootie, do not turn.

BEADING:
Ch 4, sk 1 sc, dc in next sc, * ch 1, sk 1 sc, dc in next sc, rep from * all around, ch 1, join in 3rd st of ch.

NEXT RND: Ch 1, 2 sc in each ch 1 sp, join.

NEXT RND: Ch 1, sc in same sp, dc in next st, * sc in next st, dc in next st, rep from * all around, join, turn.

NEXT RND: Work in patt same as Sweater, work sc in each dc & dc in each sc, join, turn.

NEXT RND: Same as last rnd, join, do not turn, cut White.

NEXT RND: Attach Pink & work 1 sc in each st, dec 4 sts evenly spaced, join, ch 1, turn.

NEXT RND: Start Cuff, work thru back lp of sts only * sc in next sc, dc in next sc, rep from * all around, join, turn.

NEXT RND: Work thru both lps of sts only, work in patt all around, join, turn.

NEXT RND: Same as 8th row of Turnback of Cap.

Lace ribbon thru beading.

Work other Bootie in same manner.

MITTENS:
With White ch 33 to meas about 4¾”.

Work in patt same as Sweater until Mitten meas 2” from beg.

NEXT ROW: Sc in 1st st, dc in next sc, * sc in next dc, dc in next sc, rep from * once, insert hk in next dc, pull lp thru, sk next sc, insert hk in next dc, pull lp thru, yo & work off all lps at one time [dec], * work 5 sts, dec in next 3 sts same as before, rep from last * once, work in patt to end of row, ch 1, turn.

Work 1 row even in patt [26 sts], ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROW: Work 2 sts, dec in next 3 sts, * work 5 sts, dec in next 3 sts, rep from * once, work across rem sts.

Work 1 row even [20 sts].

NEXT ROW: Dec twice across row, cut yarn leave end, thread into needle & draw sts tog.

Sew side seam.

Attach White at other side of starting ch, ch 4, sk 1 st, dc in next st, * ch 1, sk 1 st, dc in next st, rep from * all around for beading, ch 1, join in 3rd st of ch.

NEXT ROW: Ch 1 & work 2 sc in each ch 1 mesh, join.

Work 4 rows in patt joining each row & turning each row, cut White.

NEXT ROW: Attach Pink on wrong side & work 1 sc in each st, join, ch 1, do not turn.

NEXT ROW: Work thru back lps of sts only, * sc in next st, dc in next st, rep from * all around, join, turn.

NEXT 2 ROWS: Work thru both lps of sts work even in patt, join each row but do not turn at end of last row.

NEXT ROW: Same as 8th row of Turn­back of Cap.

Lace ribbon thru beading.

Work other Mitten in same manner.
