Vintage 1971 Lively Lace Halter Top #1400

Cool halter top is knit in one piece. Straps are knit separately & join in front & back with rings. An easy pattern based on stocking stitch is interlaced with rows of diagonal holes for the fashionable open look.

MATERIALS:
5 [6,7] Balls Patons Sunspun Boucle
1 Pair #10 Disc Knitting Needles
2 Curtain Rings 1 ½” diameter

MEASUREMENTS:
To fit Bust = 32” [34”,36”]
Finished Bust = 32” [34”,36”]
Length at Side Edge = 11”

TENSION:
12 Sts = 2” over st st

BACK & FRONT:
[Make both alike.]
Cast on 3 sts.

1ST ROW: Inc in 1st st, y fwd, K 1, y fwd, inc in last st.

2ND ROW: Inc in 1st st, P 5,  inc in last st.

3RD ROW: Inc in 1st st, K 3, y fwd, K 1, y fwd, K 3, inc in last st.

4TH ROW: Inc in 1st st, P 11, inc in last st.

5TH ROW: Inc in 1st st, [y fwd, K 2 tog] 3 times, y fwd, K 1, y fwd, [K 2 tog, y fwd] 3 times, inc in last st.

6TH ROW: Inc in 1st st, P 17, inc in last st.

7TH ROW: Inc in 1st st, K 9, y fwd, K 1, y fwd, K 9, inc in last st.

8TH ROW: Inc in 1st st, P 23, inc in last st.

9TH ROW: Inc in 1st st, [y fwd, K 2 tog] 6 times, y fwd, K 1, y fwd [K 2 tog, y fwd] 6 times, inc in last st.

Cont in patt as in last 4 rows, inc [as before] at each end of every row, at same time inc both sides of centre st [as before] in alt rows until there are 99 [103,111] sts.

Keep patt correct & dec 1 st at each end of alt rows until side edge meas approx 11” [or needed length], K 3 rows. Cast off tightly.

FINISHING:
Use back st & join side seams.

Sew 1 ring each to front & back points.

STRAPS [MAKE 2]:
Cast on 5 sts & K until work meas 11”. Cast off.

Sew straps to rings as shown.
