Vintage 1970s Show a Shoulder Top #1401

MATERIALS:
Sirdar Spree 50 gm Balls:
1st Color [cc1] = 1 [1-2-2] Balls
2nd Color [cc2] = 1 [1-2-2] Balls
3rd Color [cc3] = 1 [1-2-2] Balls
4th Color [cc4] = 1 [1-2-2] Balls
5th Color [cc5] = 1 [1-2-2] Balls
1 Milward Crochet Hook #8/4.00
Milward Tapestry Needle

MEASUREMENTS:
Fits Bust: 75 [80-85-90] cm = 29 ½” [31”-33”-35”]; approx meas 80 [85-90-95] cm = 31” [33”-35”-37”]
Length: 49 [50-50-51] cm = 19” [19 ½”-19 ½”-20”]

TENSION:
17 ½ TR & 10 Rows = 10 cm [4”]

SPECIAL ABBREVIATION:
1 cm = 0.393701 inch

BOBBLE = 4 TR in next st, remove hk from lp, insert hk in 1st of these 4 TR & draw dropped lp thru, 1 CH to tighten.

“DEC” = [yoh, draw up lp in next st, yoh & draw thru 1st 2 lps on hk] twice, yok & draw thru all 3 lps on hk.

NOTE:

FRONT:
Use cc, make 68 [72-76-80] CH loosely.

1ST ROW [WS]: Sk 3 CH, 1 TR in each CH to end = 66 [70-74-78] sts, count TCH as 1 st.

2ND ROW: Use cc2 [1 DC, 1 CH] in 1st TR, 1 TR in each TR to end, 1 TR in top of TCH.

Work throughout in stripes of 1 row each cc3, cc4, cc5, cc1 & cc2, rep 2nd row until work meas 20 cm from beg, work last row on RS.

SHAPE CURVE:
1ST ROW: Keep stripes correct, sl st across 1st 2 [3-6-7] TR, 1 DC in next TR, 1 HTR in next TR, 1 TR in each TR to end, 1 TR in top of TCH.

2ND ROW: Work to last 4 TR, 1 HTR in next TR, 1 DC in next TR, turn.

3RD ROW: Sl st across 1st 4 sts, 1 DC in next TR, 1 HTR in next TR, 1 TR in each TR to end, 1 TR in top of TCH.

Rep 2nd & 3rd rows 4 times = 24 [27-28-31] TR.

SHAPE ARMHOLE:
12TH ROW: Sl st across 1st r [4-5-5] TR, [1 DC, 1 CH] in next TR, “dec”, 1 TR in each TR to last 2 TR, 1 DC in next TR, turn.

13TH ROW: Sl st across 1st 2 sts, 1 DC in next TR, 1 TR in each TR to last 3 sts, “dec”, 1 TR in top of TCH.

14TH ROW: [1 DC, 1 CH] in 1st TR, “dec”, 1 TR in each TR to last 2 TR, 1 DC in next TR, turn.

Rep 13th & 14th rows 0 [0-0-1] times.

Work to corres with front.

1ST ROW [WS]: Sk 3 CH, “dec”, 1 TR in each of next 43 [47-51-55] CH, [“dec”, 1 TR in each of next 9 CH] 7 times, “dec”, 1 TR in each of next 43 [47-51-55] CH, “dec”, 1 TR in last CH = 161 [169-177-185] sts, count TCH as 1 st.

2ND ROW: Use cc2, [1 DC, 1 CH] in 1st TR, “dec”, 1 TR in each of next 5 sts, * bobble, 1 TR in each of next 7 sts, rep from * to last 9 sts, bobble, 1 TR in each of next 5 sts, “dec”, 1 TR in top of TCH.

3RD ROW: Use cc3, [1 DC, 1 CH] in 1st TR, “dec”, 1 TR in each of next 41 [45-49-53] sts, [“dec”, 1 TR in each of next 8 sts] 7 times, “dec”, 1 TR in each of next 40 [44-48-52] sts, “dec”, 1 TR in top of TCH = 149 [157-165-173] sts.

11TH ROW: Use cc1, [1 DC, 1 CH] in 1st TR, “dec”, 1 TR in each of next 31 [35-39-43] sts, [“dec”, 1 TR in each of next 4 sts] 7 times, “dec”, 1 Tr in each of next 30 [34-38-42] sts, “dec”, 1 TR in top of TCH = 101 [109-117-125] sts. Fasten off.

FINISHING:
DO NOT PRESS.

Use flat seam, join side & yoke seams.

Sew yoke in position, place seam to RS seam & leave 20 cm at centre free for armhole.

With RS facing, use cc1, work 1 row crab st evenly around lower edge.

Crab st, work as for DC, but work from left to right instead of right to left, so that sts are worked backwards.

TRIMMINGS:
Make as many as wanted in assorted colors.

Make length of CG bet 6 cm & 12 cm long [vary lengths], the, work bobble into 4th CH from hk. Fasten off.

Attach trimmings.
