Vintage 1970s Men’s Quick-Knit Toscana Raglan Pullover #1324
SIZE:
Directions are for size Small [38-40] with changes for Medium [40-42] & Large [46] in brackets.
MATERIALS:
Columbia-Minerva Bulky Nantuk, 2 oz Skein: 18 [19-20] Charcoal Brown Heather
1 Pair Big Boye Knitting Needles Size 35 ¾”
GAUGE/TENSION:
3 Sts = 2”
Work with 3 strands of yarn throughout.
BACK:
Cast on 23 [27-27].
1ST ROW [RS]: K3, * P1, K3, rep from * across. Mark RS.
2ND ROW: K1, P1, * K3, P1, rep from * across, end K1.
Rep these 2 rows for patt for 5”.
Carefully keep to patt & inc 1 st each side on next row, then every 3” [6”-3”] 2 [1-2] times more.
Work on 29 [31-33] sts to 17”, end on WS.
RAGLAN ARMHOLES:
Bind off 1 st at beg of next 2 rows.
** 1ST ROW: K1, sl 1, K1, psso, work in patt to last 3 sts, K2 tog, K1.
2ND ROW: P3, work to last 3 sts, P3. **
Rep last 2 rows until 9 [11-11] sts rem, end with 1st row.
Sl sts to holder for neck.
FRONT:
Work same as back.
SLEEVES:
Cast on 14 [18-18].
K1 & P1 in ribbing for 6 rows, inc 1 st at end of last row.
Work in patt on 15 [19-19] sts.
Inc 1 st each side every 3” [4”-4”] 4 [3-3] times.
Work on 23 [25-25] sts to 19”, end on WS.
RAGLAN CAP:
Bind off 1 st at beg of next 2 rows.
SMALL & LARGE ONLY:
Work 2 rows.
ALL SIZES:
Work same as back from ** to **.
Rep last 2 rows until 5 sts rem, end with 1st row.
Sl sts to holder.
Sew raglan seams & leave right back open.
NECKBAND:
1ST ROW: Start with right sleeve on WS, * P2, K1, P3 [4-4], [K1 & P1] 3 times, K1, P1 [2-2] rep from * once = 28 [32-32] sts.
2ND ROW: K1 [2-2], * P1, [K1 & P1] 3 times, K3 [4-4], P1 *, K3 [4-4], rep from * to * once, K2.
3RD ROW: Rep 1st row.
Bind off loosely in ribbing.
Sew open seam & join neckband.
Sew sleeve & underarm seams.
