Vintage 1956 Viennese Evening Blouse #1379
Spring blouse for cocktails & after-five wear is a Viennese design by Salon Lana, knitted in soft wool, edged with braid, & has matching braid shoulder-straps. For parties, chic is combined with warmth in this fine wool sweater. It is a must for your spring party-going wardrobe.

MATERIALS:
A-5 (B-5; C-6) oz Villawool Horizon Crochet Wool
1 Pair Each #10 & #12 Knitting Needles
2 yds Braid 2”
2 Stitch-Holders

MEASUREMENTS:
Bust = A-34”, B-36”, C-38”
Length to armholes = A-14”, B-14”, C-14½”

GAUGE/TENSION:
7½ sts = 1” on #10 needles
Directions are for size A with changes for B & C in brackets.

BACK:
Use #12 needles cast on 128 (B-136; C-144) sts.

Work in rib of k 1, p 1 for 1½”.

Change to #10 needles & st-st, dec 1 st each end of every 4th row until 112 (B-120; C-128)
sts are on needle.

Work even in st-st for 1½”.

SHAPE DARTS:
1ST ROW: RS facing K 36 (B-k 40; C-k 44), pick up lp before next st, place on left-hand
needle, & k into back of it (this will be called - inc 1), k 40 (B-k 40; C-k 40), inc 1, k 36
(B-k 40; C-k 44).

2ND ROW: P.

3RD ROW: K.

4TH ROW: P.

Rep last 4 rows, have 1 more st before & after inc on inc rows until 128 (B-136; C-144) sts
are on needle.

Cont even in st-st until work meas 14” (B-14”; C-14½”) or length needed to underarm.

SHAPE ARMHOLES:
Cast off 5 (B-5; C-6) sts at beg of next 6 rows.

Leave rem sts on st-holder.

FRONT:
Work same as back.

YOKE FACINGS:
FRONT:
Use #10 needles (RS facing) pick up & k 15 (B-15; C-18) sts along armhole shaping edge,
across sts on st-holder, then pick up & k 15 (B-15; C-18) sts along other armhole shaping
edge.

Work even in st-st for 1”. Cast off.

BACK:
Work same as front facing.

FINISHING:
Press all st-st areas with warm iron & damp cloth.

Turn 1” yoke facing to reverse side & sl-st into place.

Join side seams.

Sew braid around top of jumper & make 2 shoulder-straps with rem of braid.

Thread elastic thru facing, st ends into side seams.

Press seams & press facing flat.
