1955 Infant’s Lacy Stripes Sweater 3-Piece Set #B219
MATERIALS:
4 oz Baby Yarn 3-Ply
1 Plastic Crochet Hook #3

SWEATER:
Start at neck edge, CH 87 VERY LOOSELY.

1ST ROW: 1 DC in 4th st from hk, 1 DC in each of next 11 CH sts; 3 DC in next st, 1 DC in each of next 16 sts; 3 DC in next st, 1 DC in each of next 23 sts, 3 DC in next st, 1 DC in each of next 16 sts; 3 DC in next st, 1 DC in each rem 13 sts. CH 3, turn.

NOTE: HEREAFTER WHEN WORKING DC, PICK UP BACK LP OF STS & WHEN INC, USE BOTH LPS OF STS ON ROW BELOW.

2ND ROW: Sk 1st DC, 1 DC in each of next 13 sts, 3 DC in next st, 1 DC in next 18 sts, 3 DC in next st, 1 DC in next 25 sts, 3 DC in next st, 1 DC in next 18 sts, 3 DC in next st, 1 DC in last 14 sts. CH 3, turn.

3RD ROW: Sk 1st DC, 1 DC in next 14 sts, 3 DC in next st, 1 DC in next 20 sts, 3 DC in next st, 1 DC in next 27 sts, 3 DC in next st, 1 DC in next 20 sts, 3 DC in next st, 1 DC in last 15 sts.

Cont in same way, inc 8 sts on each row until 10th row has been compl = 165 sts in compl row.

CH 1, turn; 1 SC in 1st 24 sts, CH 6, sk 36 sts for sleeve; 1 SC in next 45 sts; CH 6, sk 36 sts for 2nd sleeve; 1 SC in last 24 sts. CH 5, turn.

PATTERN:
1ST ROW: Sk 2, * 1  SC in next st, CH 5, sk 1; rep from * across row, end with 1 SC in last st = 52 lps. CH 5, turn.

2ND ROW:  * 1 SC in center st of CH-5, CH 3, rep from * across row, end with SC in center st of turning CH. CH 3, turn.

3RD ROW: 3 DC over each CH-3 sp. CH 1, turn.

4TH ROW: Work loosely, 1 sl st in each DC across row. CH 5, turn.

5TH ROW: * Sk 2 sts, 1 SC in next st, CH 5, rep from * across row, end with 1 SC in last st. CH 5, turn.

Rep 2nd to 5th rows incl for patt.

Work until piece meas 6” from underarm, end with 5th row. Break yarn.

NECK EDGE:
Tie yarn at right hand corner of neck edge. CH 3, 1 DC in next st, * CH 2, sk 1 st, 1 DC in next 2 sts; rep from * across neck edge, end with 1 DC in last 2 sts. CH 5, turn.

2ND ROW: * 1 SC over CH-2 sp, CH 5, rep from * across neck edge, end with CH 5, 1 SC in top of last DC. Break yarn.

SLEEVES:
Tie yarn at center of underarm CH-6. [RIGHT SIDE FACING] 42 SC around armhole, do not join.

Work in patt [AS ON SWEATER] for 5”, end with 5th row. Break yarn & leave 12”.

Sew up sleeve.

Make 2nd sleeve in same way.

BONNET:
CH 4, join with sl st to form ring. Make 6 SC into ring.

2ND RND: 2 SC in each st around = 12 sts.

MARK BEG OF RNDS.

3RD RND: * 1 SC in next st, 2 SC in next st; rep from * around once.

4TH RND: * 1 SC in next 2 sts, 2 SC in next st; rep from * around once.

Have 1 more st bet each inc, keep inc 6 sts on rnd until you have 12 sts bet each inc = 84 sts.

CH 1, turn; 1 SC in next 69 sts, leave 15 sts for back of neck. CH 5, turn.
1ST ROW: Sk 2 sts, 1 SC in next st, * CH 5, sk 1 st, 1 SC in next st; rep 
from * across row = 34 lps.

Now work in patt as on sweater for 5” from last SC row, end with 5th row.

Fold back 1” at front edge; tack down at each side.

NECK EDGE:
[RIGHT SIDE]:
64 SC across neck edge. CH 1, turn.

Make 3 rows of SC. Break yarn.

Trim with ribbon.

BOOTIES:
CH 10 LOOSELY, 1 SC in 2nd st from hk, 1 SC in each rem CH st.

CH 1, turn; 1 SC in each st across.

Make 7 more rows of SC.

CH 30 LOOSELY for ankle CH; sl st to opp corner.

Make 9 SC along side of instep; 9 SC across toe; 9 SC along 2nd side of instep; 1 SC in each of 30 CH sts.

Make 9 more rows of SC. Break yarn.

UPPER PART:
[WRONG SIDE]:
Tie yarn at center of ankle CH; work along opp side of ankle CH, make 1 SC in each CH, 1 SC in each of instep sts, 1 SC in each rem CH st. DO NOT join. CH 5, turn.

1ST ROW: * Sk 2 sts, 1 SC in next st, CH 5, rep from * around = 13 lps.

Now work in patt as on sweater until piece meas 2 ½”. Break yarn, leave 10”.

Sew up back of bootie. Sew sole & trim with ribbon.
