Vintage 1952 Lacy Blouse & Attached Stole #1104

MATERIALS:
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY: Dawn Nylon, or Nylon Pompadour, or 
Clover Leaf Nylon, or Nylon Pompadour, or Dawn Braeburn Sport Yarn:
Buttercup Yellow or Canary Yellow
Size 12--11 ozs
Size 14--12 ozs
Size 16--13 ozs
Steel Crochet Hook #2
6 Buttons

GAUGE:
7 dc = 1”

SIZE:
Directions are given for size 12. Sizes 14 & 16 are given in brackets.
SWEATER:
Starting at neck edge, ch 161 (for all sizes).

1ST ROW:  1 dc in 4th st from hk, 1 dc in next st of ch, work double knot st (knot st: * draw up ¼ “ lp on hk, yarn over hk & pull thru, forming a ch st, sc over single lp of st (single knot st), rep from * once for double knot st, sk next 3 sts of ch, 1 dc in each of next 3 sts of ch, * double knot st, sk next 3 sts of ch, 1 dc in each of next 3 sts of ch, rep from * across rem sts of ch (26 knot sts), turn.

2ND ROW:  Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, * work single knot st, sc in center sc of next double knot st of prev row, work single knot st, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, rep from * across row, work last dc in 3rd st of ch.
 
3RD ROW:  Ch 3, dec in next 2 sts (to dec: * yarn over hk, insert in next st, pull thru & work off 2 lps, rep from * once, yarn over & pull thru all lps at one time), * work double knot st, sk next double knot st, 1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next dc, rep from * across row end with double knot st, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, 2 dc in 3rd st of ch, turn.

4TH ROW:  Ch 3, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, * single knot st, sc in center sc of next double knot st, single knot st, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, rep from * across row end with single knot st, sc in center sc of next double knot st, single knot st, dc in next dc, 1 dc in 3rd st of ch, turn.

5TH ROW:  Ch 3, * double knot st, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, rep from * across row, end with double knot st, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, 2 dc in 3rd st of ch, turn.

6TH ROW:  Same as 4th row, but work ch 3, 4 dc at beg of row & 1 dc in 3rd st of ch at end of row.

7TH ROW:  Ch 3, * double knot st, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, rep from * across row end with double knot st, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, 2 dc in 3rd st of ch.

8TH ROW:  Same as 4th row, but work ch 3, 6 dc at beg of row, 5 dc in each dc panel, end row with dc in 3rd st of ch.

9TH ROW:  Ch 3, sk double knot st, * 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, double knot st, rep from * across row end with 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, 2 dc in 3rd st of ch.

10TH ROW:  Same as 4th row, but work ch 3, 8 dc at beg of row, 6 dc in each dc panel, end row with 6 dc in last dc panel, turn.

11TH ROW:  Ch 3, sk 1 dc, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, * double knot st, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, rep from * across row, end with double knot st, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, 2 dc in 3rd st of ch, turn.

12TH ROW:  Same as 4th row, but work ch 3, 10 dc at beg of row, 7 dc in each dc panel, end row with 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, turn.

13TH ROW:  Ch 3, sk 1 dc, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, * double knot st, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, rep from * across row end with double knot st, sk next 3 dc, 2 dc in 3rd st of ch (26 knot sts), turn.

14TH ROW:  Same as 4th row, but work ch 3, 1 dc at beg of row, 8 dc in each dc panel, end row with 1 dc in each of last 3 dc, turn.

15TH ROW:  Ch 3, sk 1 dc, 1 dc in next dc, * double knot st, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, rep from * across row, end with 1 dc in next dc, 1 dc in 3rd st of ch, turn.

Work in patt cont to inc 1 dc in center of each dc panel every other row, at same time dec 1 st at beg of same row & inc 1 st at end of same row.

Cont to work in this manner until there are 15 (16, 17) dc in each of dc panels & there are 27 (29, 31) rows.

NEXT 2 ROWS:  Work even in patt omit incs in each of 15 (16, 17) dc panels, but cont to dec & inc in 2 end panels, cut yarn leaving an end.

Thread into needle & sew last 2 sts made over first 2 sts of row, overlapping sts when sewing, there should be 15 (16, 17) sts in connected panel, this is right side of work.

NEXT RND:  With right side of work toward you, attach yarn in 9th (10th, 11th) dc of 7th panel after panel that opening was connected.

From here on this will be start of each rnd, ch 3, 1 dc in each of next 6 (6, 7) dc of same panel, * single knot st, sc in center sc of next double knot st, single knot st, 1 dc in each of next 15 (16, 17) dc, rep from * 4 times, single knot st, sc in next double knot st, single knot st, 1 dc in each of next 7 (7, 8) dc, ch 4, sk next 8 (9, 9) dc of same panel, next 6 double knot sts, dc in 8th (8th, 9th) dc of next panel, 1 dc in each of next 7 (8, 8) dc of same panel, * single knot st, sc in center sc of next double knot st, single knot st, 1 dc in each of next 15 (16, 17) dc, rep from * 5 times, single knot st, sc in center sc of next double knot st, single knot st, 1 dc in each of next 8 (9, 9) dc of next panel, ch 4, join in 3rd st of ch, do not turn this or following rnds.

NEXT RND:  Ch 3, 1 dc in each of next 6 (6, 7) dc, * double knot st, 1 dc in each of next 15 (16, 17) dc, rep from * 4 times, double knot st, 1 dc in each of next 7 (7, 8) dc, 1 dc in each of 4 sts of ch, 1 dc in each of next 8 (9, 9) dc, finish rnd to correspond, join.

NEXT 5 RNDS:  Work even in patt having 15 (16, 17) dc in each dc panel & 19 (20, 21) dc in each underarm panel.

NEXT RND:  Work in patt, dec 1 st in center of each dc panel, 14 (15, 16) dc in each panel, 18 (19, 20) in each under arm panel. Work 1 rnd even.

NEXT RND:  Work in patt, dec 1 st in center of each dc panel. Work 2 rnds even.

Cont in above manner dec 1 st in center of each dc panel every 3rd rnd until there are 8 (9, 10) dc in each panel & 12 (13, 14) dc in each underarm panel.

Work even in patt for 8 (10, 12) rnds or length desired, cut yarn.

FINISHING:
With right side toward you, attach yarn at underarm & work 1 dc in each of 4 sts of ch, 3 dc over end st of next row, work even in patt across sleeve cap, 3 dc over end st of next row, join in 1 st dc, cut yarn.

Work other sleeve in same manner.

With right side toward you, attach yarn at lower edge of center opening & work 60 (64, 68) sc up right side, 3 sc in corner st, 1 sc in each st of ch around neck line, 3 sc in corner st, 60 (64, 68) sc down left side, join, do not turn.

NEXT ROW:  1 sc in each of next 4 sc, * ch 4, sk 3 sc, 1 sc in each of next 7 (8, 9) sc, rep from * 4 times, ch 4, sk 3 sc, 1 sc in next sc (6 buttonholes), cont work in sc around neck & left front, work 3 sc in center st at each corner, join.

Work up right front only, work 1 sc in each sc & 1 sc in each st of ch 4 for buttonholes, cut yarn.

Attach yarn at lower edge of left side & work 2 rows of sc over 60 (64, 68) sts, cut yarn.

Sew buttons in position.

STOLE:
Ch 61 (64, 67), sc in 2nd st from hk, 1 sc in each rem st of ch, turn.

NEXT ROW:  * Work a double knot st (draw lps up ½“ only), sk 2 sc, sc in next sc, rep from * across row, 20 (21, 22) knot sts, turn.

NEXT ROW:  Work 3 single knot sts, sc in center sc of next double knot st, * double knot st, sc in center sc of next double knot st, rep from * across row.

Rep last row until work meas 5” from beg. Cont in above manner but draw lps up ¾“ for remainder of stole.

Work even until stole meas 46” (48”, 50”) from beg, cut yarn.

Attach yarn in first st of starting ch, 1 sc in same sp, * ch 4, sk 3 sts, 1 sc in each of next 8 (8, 9) sts, rep from * 4 times, ch 4, sk 3 sts, 1 sc in each rem st, ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROW:  1 sc in each sc & 1 sc in each st of ch of buttonholes.

Without cutting yarn & work across long edge, 1 sc in end st of each sc row, single knot st, sc in center sc of next double knot st, * double knot st, sc in center sc of next double knot st, rep from * across side & lower end, work opposite side to cor­respond, cut yarn.
