Evening Waistcoat with Lacy Ruffle #992
Barely enough…Light coverage in a million watt fashion…a
waistcoat dickey with lacey ruffles neck to team with suits or shine by
itself…goes from office to evening with elan!

Beehive Scotch Fingering Yarn, 3 ply, 1 oz, 3 skeins Larch Green

GAUGE:
8 sts = 1”
12 rows = 1”

NOTE: There were no
measurements other than stitch gauge/tension included in original vintage
pattern.
BACK:
Start at lower edge, cast on 100 sts.
Start at lower edge, cast on 100 sts.
1ST ROW:
K across.
2ND ROW:
* K 2, p 2. Rep from * across.
3RD ROW:
K across.
4TH ROW:
* P 2, k 2. Rep from * across.
Last 4 rows make up patt.
Rep patt once more.
Keeping continuity of patt, inc 1 st at both ends of next
row & every 5th row thereafter until there are 120 sts on
needle.
NEXT ROW: Work
across 48 sts, bind off for center back next 24 sts, work across rem 48 sts.
Work ever this last set of sts only, inc 1 st at side edge
every 5th row as before 5 more times & binding off 3 sts at
inner edge on every other row 10 times.
Then dec 1 st at inner edge on each row until 2 sts
rem. Bind off.
Attach yarn at opposite side of center back & work
other side to correspond, reverse shaping.
LEFT FRONT:
Start at point, cast on 4 sts.

1ST ROW:
K across.
2ND ROW:
Inc in 1st st, p 2, inc in last st -- .6 sts.
3RD ROW:
Inc in 1st st, k across to last st, inc in last st – 8 sts.
4TH ROW:
Inc in 1st st, p 2, k 2, p 2, inc in last st – 10 sts.
5TH ROW:
Rep 3rd row – 12 sts.
6TH ROW:
Inc in 1st st, [p 2, k 2] twice; p 2, inc in last st -.- 14
sts.
7TH ROW:
Rep 3rd row – 16 sts.
8TH ROW:
Inc in 1st st, * p 2, k 2.
Rep from * across to last 3 sts, p 2, inc in last st – 18 sts.
Rep 3rd & 8th rows alternately
until there are 58 sts on needle.
Place marker in last st of last row [front edge].
Work 8 rows straight in patt.
Keep continuity of patt, inc 1 st at side edge on next row
& every 5th row thereafter until there are 74 sts on needle.
Work straight until piece meas 8” from marker.
SHAPE ARMHOLE:
Start at side edge, bind off 3 sts every other row 3 times; then bind off 2 sts at same edge every other row 5 times.
Start at side edge, bind off 3 sts every other row 3 times; then bind off 2 sts at same edge every other row 5 times.
Now dec 1 st at armhole edge on every 3rd row
until 45 sts rem.
Work straight until piece meas 5 ½” from 1st row
of armhole shaping.
SHAPE NECK:
1ST ROW: Start at armhole edge work across 25 sts, [k 2 tog] 10 times.
1ST ROW: Start at armhole edge work across 25 sts, [k 2 tog] 10 times.
2ND ROW:
Bind off 10 sts, work across rem 25 sts.
3RD ROW:
Work across to last 3 sts, k 3 tog.
4TH ROW:
Work straight.
Rep 3rd & 4th rows alternately
until 16 sts rem.
Work straight until piece meas 4” from 1st row
of neck shaping [neck tab]. Bind off.
RIGHT FRONT:
Work to correspond with left front, make buttonhole 3 sts in from front edge, when piece meas 1” from front marker.
Work to correspond with left front, make buttonhole 3 sts in from front edge, when piece meas 1” from front marker.
To
make buttonhole, on one row bind off 3 sts & one next row cast on 3 sts to
replace those bound off.
Always meas from 1st row of last buttonhole,
make buttonhole every 2” until 7 total are made [last buttonhole should be
about ¼” below neck shaping].
ASSEMBLING:
Press pieces thru damp cloth.
Press pieces thru damp cloth.
Sew side seams.
Sew bound-off edges of neck tabs tog.
With right side
facing, work row of sc along all edges, excluding front neck edge.
Sew on buttons.
NECK RUFFLE:
1ST ROW: With wrong side facing, work row of sc along neck edge. Ch 4, turn.
1ST ROW: With wrong side facing, work row of sc along neck edge. Ch 4, turn.
2ND ROW:
* Sk next sc, dc in next sc, ch 1.
Rep from * across. Ch 1, turn.
3RD ROW:
* Sc in next dc, ch 5, sk next dc.
Rep from * across. Turn.
4TH ROW:
* Sl st in next lp, ch 7, sl st in 3rd ch from hk, [tr in
same lp, ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hk] 5 times; ch 4, sl st in same
lp. Rep from * across. Fasten off.
Run ribbon thru beading & tie into bow.
