1ST
RND: 3 Sc in 2nd ch from hk,
sc in each of next 33 ch, 3 sc in end ch, cont around work sc in each of next
33 ch [72 sts].
2ND
RND: [2 Sc in each of next 3 sts, sc in
each of next 33 sts] twice.
3RD
RND: Inc 3 sts around curve at each end
[6 incs].
Rep
3rd rnd [do not inc directly over prev incs] until there are 138
sts.
Work
even, if necessary, to fit bottom of lining, ending at center of 1 short
end. Sl st in next st.
NEXT
RND: Thru back lps only, sc in each st. Sl st in next st.

Draw
corde thru tweed lp, drop tweed to inside.

drop corde to inside.

RND: With tweed work 2 sc in sp before each claw st [138 sc]. Mark beg of rnds.
3RD
& 4TH RNDS: Sc in each
st. Sl st in 1st sc. Draw corde thru tweed lp, drop tweed to wrong side.
Rep
from 1st rnd of patt until sides are 9” high, ending with claw st
rnd.
NEXT
RND: With corde work 2 sc in each sp.
LAST

FINISHING:
Insert
lining & sew.
NOTE:
If
purse lining is not available, you can create your own with lining material
& heavy cardboard [or plastic].
Make
paper patt for each crocheted piece & lay aside to be used later.
Cut
lining according to paper patts & sew tog.
Shirr
lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag. Insert finished lining in bag.
IMPORTANT:
Cardboard or lightweight plastic may be inserted
between bag & lining to give shape of bag extra support.

Work
2 rnds sc inc at corners & points as before.
With
wrong sides of outside & inside tabs facing, using corde & beg at top
corner, work sl st thru sts along sides of tabs, leaving top edges free.
FINISHING:
Sl
crocheted tabs over hat lining & sew.
Insert
lining in crocheted piece, turn up facing & sew.
Trim
with ribbon as shown in photo.
