1950s Nancy Woven Ribbon Cloche #1129

MATERIALS:
Coats & Clarks Ont Speed-Cro-Sheen Mer­cerized Cotton, Art #C44,
 2 Balls Fudge Brown.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook 
#2/0 [00].
5 Yds Red Velvet ⅝” Ribbon

GAUGE:
5 sc = 1”
5 sc rnds = 1”
2 shell rnds = 1½”

CLOCHE:
CROWN:

Start at center of crown, ch 2.

1ST RND: 6 Sc in 2nd ch from hk.

2ND RND: 2 Sc in each sc around = 12 sc.

3RD RND: * 2 Sc in next sc [1 sc inc], sc in next sc. Rep from * around.

4TH TO 12TH RNDS INCL: Sc in each sc, inc 6 sc evenly on each rnd.

13TH RND: Inc 8 sc evenly around = 80 sc.

14TH RND: Sl st in next sc, ch 3, in same sc make dc, ch 1 & 2 dc [shell made]; * sk 3 sc, in next sc make 2 dc, ch 1 & 2 dc. Rep from * around. Join = 20 shells.

15TH, 16TH & 17TH RNDS: Sl st in next dc & in next sp, ch 3, in same sp make dc, ch 1 & 2 dc [shell made over shell]; in sp of each shell make 2 dc, ch 1 & 2 dc. Join. 

18TH RND: Sc in same place as sl st, sc in each dc & in each ch-1 sp around = 100 sc.

BRIM:
19TH RND:
 Rep 13th rnd = 108 sc. 

20TH & 21ST RNDS: Ret 14th & 15th rnds = 27 shells. 

22ND RND: Rep 18th rnd. 

23RD RND: Work over scs into st below, make sc over each sc around. Join & break off.

FINISHING:
Cut piece of ribbon slightly longer than 1st shell rnd of Crown.

Weave thru sps of shells & fasten ends securely.

Weave rem ribbon thru shell rnds of Crown & Brim.

Press lightly.
