1940’s Monique Chic Cloche #1095
MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS
KNIT-CRO-SHEEN, 2 balls of White, Ecru, Cream or any color.
Steel Crochet Hook #2/0.
1¼ yards of 2-inch wide grosgrain ribbon.
GAUGE:
6 hdc make 1 inch; 4 rnds make 1 inch.
Use
thread double throughout.
Cloche:
Starting at top ch 4. Join with sl st to form ring. Ch 2.
1st
rnd: 10 hdc in ring. Join with sl st in top st of
starting chain. Ch 2, turn.
2nd
rnd: 2 hdc in back loop of each hdc around. Join
with sl st in top st of starting chain. Ch 2, turn.
3rd
to 6th rnds incl: Hdc in back loop of each hdc
around increasing 10 hdc on rnd—to inc 1 h dc, work 2 hdc in 1
h dc.
Join. Ch 2, turn.
7th
to 13th rnds incl: Hdc in back loop of each hdc
around. Join. Ch 2, turn.
14th
to 22nd rnds incl: Hdc in back loop of each hdc
around increasing 5 hdc evenly around. Join. Ch 2, turn.
Work 7 rnds as before but without increasing.
Hereafter work is done back and forth in rows as before but
without joining.
Next
row: Dec 1 hdc [to dec 1 h dc, work off 2 hdc as 1 h dc] hdc in back loop of each hdc
across to within last 2 sts, dec 1 h dc. Ch 2, turn.
Repeat
this row 10 more times. Fasten off.
Face bottom of hat with grosgrain ribbon, being careful not to
draw crochet too tightly.
Make a bow out of remaining ribbon; sew to back of hat.
