HEADSIZE:
21½”

MATERIALS:
Clarks ONT Brilliant:
8 Balls Main Color [mc] & 1 Ball Contrasting Color [cc] for Flower Centers
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook #6
Cotton Batting

GAUGE:
4 sps = 1”
3 rows = 1”

CALOT:
The foundation of hat is made first, then flowers are made & sewn on.
FOUNDATION:
Start with mc at tip of crown, ch 3, join with sl st to form ring.

1ST RND: Ch 5 [to count as dc & ch-2], * dc in ring, ch 2, rep from * 5 more times. Join last ch-2 with sl st to 3rd st of ch-5 first made = 7 sps.

2ND TO 7TH RNDS INCL: Ch 5 [to count as dc & ch-2], * dc in sp, ch 2, dc in same sp, ch 2, dc in next sp, ch 2. Rep from * around. Join.

8TH & 9TH RNDS: Ch 5, * dc in next sp, ch 2, rep from * around. Join.

10TH RND: Rep 2nd rnd.

11TH & NEXT RNDS: Rep 8th rnd until work meas 6” from tip of crown.

Then work rnd of dc closely tog. Break off.
FLOWERS:
Start with mc at center, ch 3, join with sl st to form ring.

1ST RND: Ch 3 [to count as dc], make 25 dc in ring & join.

2ND RND: * Ch 4, sk 4 dc, sl st in next dc, rep from * around. Join.

3RD RND: Into each ch-4 lp work: 1 sc, 2 dc, 3 tr, 2 dc, 1 sc. Break off.

Make as many flowers as desired.

Cup center of each flower, fill firmly with cotton batting & sew to foundation.

With double thread of cc, make French knot in center of each flower, twisting thread around needle 3 times.
