BOTTOM:
1ST
RND: Ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch
from hook. Do not join. Mark beg of rnds.
2ND
RND: 2 Sc in each st [12 sc].
3RD
RND: * Sc in next st, 2 sc in next
st. Rep from * [18 sc].
Inc
6 sc each rnd [not over prev incs] until there are 60 sc in rnd.
Piece
is approx 4 ½” across.
Work
1 rnd even. Sl st in next st.
NEXT
RND: Sc thru back loops. Ch 2, turn.
SIDES:
1ST
ROW: * Thru both loops, sc in next st,
ch 1. Rep from * until there are 11 ch-1
sps, end with sc. Place marker in next
st. ch 2, turn.
2ND
ROW: * Sc in next sp, ch 1. Rep from * end with sc under turning
ch-2. Ch 2, turn.
Rep
2nd row 3 more times. Ch 2,
turn.
NEXT
ROW: Sc in first sc, ch 1, sc in next sp
[inc made], work ch-1 & sc in each sp to end. Ch 2, turn.
Rep
last row until piece is 5 ½” wide.
Work
even until Side is 4 ½” deep. Ch 2,
turn.
NEXT
ROW: Sk first sp, sc in next sp [dec
made] work in patt across. Ch 2, turn.
FOLLOWING
ROW: Sk first sp, work to end. Ch 2, turn.
Work
2 rows even.
Rep
last 4 rows until 1 sp rem. Fasten off
[1st Petal made]. Join thread
to marked st.
Rep
from 1st row of Side until there are 5 petals.
EDGING:
From
right side join thread to base of any Petal.
Work
44 sc along side to top, 3 sc in top sp, 44 sc along other side to bottom. Ch 1, turn.
NEXT
ROW: * Thru back loops only, sc in next
st, sk 2 sts, 7 dc in next st [shell made], sk 2 sts. Rep from *, end with sc at bottom of other
side. Fasten off.
Work
edging around rem Petals, matching placing of sts on sc row.
FINISHING:
Using
crocheted piece as patt, cut double linings, making ½” allowance for each
seam. [Shell edging is not lined.]
Cut
2 ½” off top of each petal section of lining.
Line
bag, reinforcing bottom circle with cardboard [or lightweight plastic].
Sewing
along ridge behind shells, join side seams, leaving 3” open at top of each
seam.
Sew
draw string unit to top of lining with 1 ring at each seam & 1 ring at
center of each Petal.
