Quick & easy to
create, this wrist, envelope handbag will become a seasonal favorite!
MATERIALS:
J
P Coats
OR
Clark‘s
ONT Pearl Cotton, size 5, 18 balls
#4
Bone Crochet Hook
1/3
yd each Buckram & Lining Material
1/3
yd Ribbon, 1” wide
GAUGE:
4
sts = 1”:
4
½ rows = 1”
Use
3 thread throughout.
BAG
PIECE:
Starting
at side edge, ch 67 to meas 17”.
1ST
ROW: Sc in 2nd ch from hook,
sc in each ch across [66 sc]. Ch 1,
turn.
2ND
ROW: Sc in each sc across [66 sc]. Ch 1, turn.
Rep
2nd row until piece meas 11 ½”.
Break off.
Fold
one edge up for 7”.
Join
side edges by working sc thru both thicknesses, ch 1, turn & work sl st in
each sc. Break off.
Turn
rem of bag piece over for top of flap & press down.
FLAP
CORD:
Ch
6. Join with sl st.
1ST
RND: Sc in each ch around.
2ND
RND: Sc in each sc around.
Rep
2nd rnd until piece meas 72”.
Break off.
Make
5 ½” loop at center of cord & fasten to edge at center of flap.
Fold
one end of cord back & forth from center loop to side edge, graduating
length of loops & fastening ends of loops to edge of flap.
Finish
other side in same way.
Line
bag & flap with buckram & felt.
Sew
other ends of loops to lining.
BUTTON:
Ch
8.
Work
same as Bag Piece until piece meas 4”.
Break off.
Cover
a 4” piece of pencil with felt; then sew crocheted piece over this.
Ch
15 & sew end of chain around center of button.
Sew
other end of chain to bag to correspond with center loop of Flap Cord.
STRAP:
Ch
31.
Work
4 rows same as Bag Piece, then work sc across narrow end; the, working along
opposite side of starting chain, make sc in each ch across, sc across other
narrow end, sl st in next sc. Break off.
Line
Strap with ribbon.
Sew
one end in center of back 3” up from lower edge.
Sew
other end to center of flap at top of loops.
