1945 Sophisticate Snood Drape & Clutch Duo #1021

This charming set will take you from office to cocktail hour in a blink of an eye!

MATERIALS:
SNOOD DRAPE:
American Thread Company Dawn Worsted Floss, 3—1oz balls Main Color [MC]; 1—1oz ball Contrast Color [CC]
Bone Crochet Hook #2
BAG:
American Thread Company Dawn Knitting Worsted, 5—1 ¼ oz balls
Bone Crochet Hook #6
½ yd Buckram
½ yd Lining
15” Zipper
Decorative Clip

Snood Drape is made with single strand of yarn.

Bag measures about 15 ½” x 8” wide & is made with single strand of yarn.

GAUGE:
SNOOD DRAPE:
3 patts = 1”
6 rows = 1”
BAG:
2 patts = 1”
4 rows = 1”

SNOOD DRAPE:
With MC, ch 93, sc in 2nd st from hk, dc in next st, * 1 sc in next st, 1 dc in next st, rep from * across row, ch 1, turn.

2ND ROW:  * Sc in dc, dc in sc, [patt] rep from * across row, ch 1, turn.

Rep 2nd row until section meas 14”, ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROW:  Sl st across 1st 2 sts & cont across row omitting last 2 sts, ch 1, turn.

Rep last row 6 times, break yarn.

BAND:
With CC, ch 60, sc in 34th row, * sk 1 row, sc in next row, rep from * to corner, sc in each dec point, * sk 4 sts, sc in next st, rep from * across top, sc in each of next dec points, * sk 1 row, sc in next row, rep from * to 44th row, ch 61, turn, sc in 2nd st from hk, 1 sc in each rem ch, 1 sc in each sc, 1 sc in each rem ch, ch 1, turn & work 8 more rows of sc, break yarn.

With MC, work row of sc all around rem of drape.

Gather drape or run elastic thru sc row. 

BAG:
Ch 69, sc in 2nd st from hk, dc in next st, * sc in next st, dc in next st, rep from * across row, ch 1, turn.

2ND ROW:  Sc in dc, dc in sc, [patt] rep from beg across row, ch 1, turn.

Rep 2nd row until section meas 16”.

DRAPE SECTION:
Ch 69,  & work another 7 ½” section in same manner.

ASSEMBLING:
Cut piece of buckram length & width of bag.

Cut lining slightly larger, baste & sew.

Fold in half, sew zipper in position & overcast sides tog.

Fold bag section in half with drape section bet, overcast sides tog, turn inside out.

Place lining in position & sew.

Drape front section as shown in photo & finish as desired.

Attach decorative clip. 

MISS JULIA’S PURSE LINING NOTES:
Cardboard or lightweight plastic may be inserted between 2 layers of lining & bag to give shape extra support.
