Use 4 threads throughout.
Gauge:

Bag Piece [Make 2]:
Starting
at center, ch 11.
1st rnd:

Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, 3 sc in last ch. Working across opposite side of starting
chain, make sc in each ch across.
2nd rnd:

Sc in next 3 sc, sc in next 8 sc] twice [28sc].
3rd rnd:
[2
Sc in next 6 sc, sc in next 8 sc] twice [40 sc].
4th rnd:
Sc
in each sc around.
5th rnd:
Sc
in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next 6 sc, sc in next 14 sc, 2 sc in next 6 sc, sc in
next 11 sc [52 sc].
6th rnd:
Sc
in each sc around.
7th rnd:

15th rnd:

16th to 20th rnds: Sc in each sc around.
At
end of 20th rnd, sl st in next sc.
Break off.
Top:
Same
as 1st 14 rnds of Bag Piece.
Sl st in next sc. Break off.
Gusset:
Starting
at center, ch 93.
1st rnd:
3
Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, 3 sc in last ch. Working along opposite side of starting
chain, make sc in each ch across.
2nd rnd:
2
Sc in next 3 sc, sc in each sc to next 3-sc group, 2 sc in next 3 sc, sc in
each sc to end of rnd. Sl st in next sc. Break off.
Make
paper patt for each crocheted piece & lay aside to be used later.
LINING:
Cut
lining according to paper patts & sew tog.
With
right sides facing, pin gusset evenly around 2 curved ends & 1 long side of
Bag Pieces.
Working
through both thicknesses, make a rnd of sc, thus joining Gusset to Bag Pieces.
Shirr
lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.
Insert
finished lining in bag.
Note:
Instead of Buckram, Cardboard or lightweight plastic
may be inserted between bag & lining to give shape of bag extra support.
With
right side facing, hold one long side of Top across back center opening at top
of Bag.
Working
through both thicknesses, make sc in each sc across long side of Top.
Handle:
Starting
at short end, ch 7.
1st row:
Sc
in 2nd ch from hook & in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
2nd row:
Sc
in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Rep
2nd row until piece measures 26” in all. Break off.
Sew
the long sides of piece together to form a handle.
Loop:
Same
as Handle until piece measures 12” in all.
Complete
as for Handle.
Strap [Make 2]:
Ch
13. Sc in 2nd ch from hook
& in each ch across. Break off.
Sew
an end of Handle to each side of 1st rnd on back of bag.
Sew
Strap around Handle 3” up from joining.
Join
Loop in a similar way to front of bag.
Handle
pulls through Loop.
