BAG:
Ch
2. 1st row: 5 Sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 1,
turn.
2nd
row: Working in back loops only, work sc in 2
sts, 3 sc in next [center] st, sc in next 2 sts. Ch 1, turn.
3rd
row: Working through both loops work sc in
each st to center st, 3 sc in center st, sc in each st to end of row. Ch 1, turn.
4th
row: Working in back loops only, work same as
3rd row. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat
last 2
rows [there will be 1 st more each side of center st every row] until side
edges measure 8”.
Work in pattern, without
any increases for 2 ½” more.
\
Do
not fasten off, but work sc along side edges, then work 1 more row complete
around. Fasten off.
Make
another piece the same as this.
FINISHING:
Cut
double linings & interlining, with crochet pieces as pattern.
Sew
crochet pieces together across bottom & for 5” up sides.
Cut
2
triangular-shaped pieces of cardboard 11” down center, following shape of
crocheted pieces for sides.
Cut
away top 3” of point & round lower edge of cardboards, as in photo.
Side
edges of cardboard should measure about 7 ½”.
Sew
side
linings, inserting cardboards b between outer lining & buckram.
Cut
a strip of cardboard 5” wide, & long enough to go around bottom curve of
side cardboards.
Taper
ends
to points, cover with lining material & sew to bottom edges of side
cardboards.
Insert
lining
in bag & tag at all seams.
Sew
on
handle, turning in 2 ½” of point on one side.
Make
a
crocheted loop at point of other side, working sc over chain.
Make
a piece of ½” x 2” & sew small ring in place.
