create, this delightful purse will become a season-spanning favorite!
MATERIALS:

with Soutache, Ribbonette, or Straw

Lining
Material
BAG:
Ch
65.
Work
1 dc in 3rd ch from hook 1 dc into each of next 24 sts. Work 1 sc into each of 13 sts. Work 1 dc in last 25 sts. Ch 3 turn.
2ND
ROW: Work 1 dc into each of first 18 sts
[taking up back loop of st only] throughout bag except for center 13 sts
[Handle patt]. Work 1 sc in next 7
sts. * Work 1 dc in next st. Work 1 sc in next st. Rep from * over next 13 sts. Work 1 sc in next 7 sts. Work 1 dc in each of last 18 sts. Ch 3 turn.
3RD
ROW: Work 1 dc in each of 25 dc, 1 sc
into each of next 13 sts. Work 1 dc into
each of next 25 sts. Ch 3, turn.
4TH
ROW: Rep row 2 except on center 13 sts
[Handle patt] working dc around post of dc on row 2 instead of into st [cable
st] & sc into sc of row 3 directly above sc on row below.
Rep
these last 2 rows [11 times].
LAST
ROW: Work 1 sc into each of first 18
sts. Work 1 dc into each of next 7
sts. Work across next 13 sts in same
manner as before. Work 1 dc into each of
next 7 sts. Complete row with sc. Break thread.
Fasten
thread to center 13 sts.
Work
in patt for 4 ½”.
Work
other half same.
FINISHING:
Crochet
bag tog on 3 sides with sl st.
Line
bag.
MISS JULIA’S PURSE
LINING NOTES:
Make
paper patt for each crocheted piece before joinings & lay aside to be used
later.
Cut
lining according to paper patts & sew tog.
Shirr
lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.
Insert
finished lining in bag. Sew in zipper
[if desired].
Note:
Cardboard or lightweight plastic may be inserted between
bag & lining to give shape of bag extra support.
