SIZE:
Toddlers - 3

MATERIALS:
Chadwicks Red Heart Baby Wool, ¾ oz: 4 Balls
1 Pair Clarks ONT Knitting Needles #1
1 Pair Clarks ONT Knitting Needles #4
Set of Double-Pointed Needles
2 Small Pearl Buttons


GAUGE/TENSION:
8 sts = 1”
10 rows =1”

FRONT:
WITH #1 NEEDLES:
Cast on 68 sts.

NEXT ROWS: Work in ribbing of K1, P1, for 1 ¼”.

CHANGE TO #4 NEEDLES:

NEXT ROW: K, inc in every 4th st across to 84 sts.

WORK IN PATT AS FOLLOWS:
1ST ROW: * P4, K1. Rep from * across, end with P4.

2ND ROW:  * K4, P1. Rep from * across, end with K4.

3RD ROW: Rep 1st row.

4TH ROW: K4, P 1, K4, * P1, sl next 2 sts onto DP Needle, & hold in back of work, K next 2 sts, then K2 sts from DP Needle [CABLE]. P1, K 4. Rep from * across, until there 7 cables, then [‘P1, K4] twice.

NEXT ROWS:  Rep last 4 rows until piece meas 8” in all.

NEXT ROW: K6 sts, sl onto DP Needle to be worked for SLEEVE, work in patt across to last 6 sts, sl last 6 sts onto another DP Needle. Turn.

NEXT ROWS: Work over rem sts in patt for 2”.

NEXT ROW: [RIGHT SIDE FACING]:  Work in patt across 19 sts, * K next 4 sts, K2TOG, K2, K2TOG. Rep from * 2 more times; K4, work in patt for rem off row.

NEXT ROW: Work in patt across 19 sts, K next 28 sts, work in patt to end of row.

NEXT ROWS: Rep last row 4 more times [3 ridges on right side of work].

NEXT ROW: Work in patt across 19 sts, K4 sts, bind off next 20 sts for front of neck, then finish row. Turn.

NEXT ROWS: Work over last set of sts only [keep 4 sts un garter st at neck edge] until piece meas 4” from sts on DP Needle. 

Bind off loosely in patt.

Attach yarn to sts of other shoulder & work to corres.

BACK:
Same as FRONT to 2” above underarm.

NEXT ROWS: Omit neck shaping & cont to work as before until piece meas 3 ½” above underarm.

NEXT ROW: [RIGHT SIDE FACING]: Work in patt across 19 sts, *K next 4 sts, K2TOG, K2, K2TOG. Rep from * 2 more times; K4. Work in patt for rem of row.

NEXT ROW: Work in patt across 19 sts, K next 28 sts. Work in patt to end of row.

NEXT ROWS: Rep last row 4 more times [3 ridges on right side of work].

Bind off loosely in patt.

RIGHT SLEEVE:
Start at armhole edge, sew shoulder seam for 1 ½”.

USE #4 NEEDLES:

[RIGHT SIDE FACING]: Sl 6 sts of FRONT off DP Needles onto right-hand needle, join yarn, pick up 52 sts around armhole edge, then K across 6 sts on other D Needle.

1ST, 2ND & 3RD ROWS: Work in patt as on Front.

4TH ROW: [K4, P1] 3 times; [cable, P1, K4, P1] 4 times; K4, P1, K4.

NEXT ROWS: Work in patt as established for 2”.

NEXT ROWS: Dec 1 st at both ends of row & every 1” following until 50 sts rem.

NEXT ROWS:  Work straight until sleeve meas 9”  in all.

CHANGE TO #1 NEEDLES.

NEXT ROWS: Work in ribbing of K1, P1 for 1 ½”.

Bind off loosely in ribbing.

LEFT SLEEVE:
Work to corres.

FINISHING:
Press with hot iron thru damp cloth.

Work row of SC along shoulder opening, make CH=3 buttonloop on each front edge.

Sew side & sleeve seams with 1 continuous seam.

Sew on buttons.
