1 Steel Crochet Hook #2/0 [Double Zero]
7 Buttons
J & P Coats OR Clarks ONT Six Strand Embroidery Floss, 1 Skein Each of 2 Colors
GAUGE/TENSION:
1 Shell = 1”

Start at bottom,, CH 62 to mas 10 ½”.
1ST ROW: SC in 2nd CH from hk & in each CH across = 61 SC. CH 1, turn.

1ST ROW: SC in 2nd CH from hk & in each CH across = 61 SC. CH 1, turn.
2ND
ROW: SC in 1st SC, * sk 2 SC, 5 DC in next SC, sk 2 SC, SC in next
SC [SHELL]. Rep from * across, end with SC = 10 shells. CH 3, turn.
3RD ROW: 2 DC at base of CH-3 [1/2 shell made at beg of row], * SC in center DC of next shell, 5 DC in next SC. Rep from * across, end with 3 DC in last SC [1/2 shell made at end of row]. CH 1, turn.
4TH ROW: SC in 1st DC, * 5 DC in next SC, SC in center DC of next shell. Rep from * across, end with SC at top of turn CH. CH 3, turn.
NEXT ROWS: Rep 3rd & 4th rows alt for 8 ½”, end with row having compl shell at each end. DO NOT CH to turn.
SHAPE ARMHOLES:
SL st in next 3 sts, shell in next SC & cont in patt across, end with compl shell = 9 shells.
NEXT ROW: Rep last row once more = 8 shells. CH 3, turn.
NEXT ROWS: Cont to work straight in patt [1/2 shell at each end of row] until piece meas 12 ½” in all. Fasten off.
FRONT: [MAKE 2]:
CH 32 to meas 5 ½”.
NEXT ROWS: Work in patt as on BACK [5 shells] until piece meas 8 ½”, end with row having compl shell at each end. DO NOT CH to turn.
SHAPE ARMHOLES:
1ST ROW: SL st in next 3 sts, shell in next SC & cont in patt across to end of row. CH 1, turn.
2ND ROW: Work in patt across, end with compl shell = 4 shells.
NEXT ROWS: Work straight in patt [1/2 shell at each end of 1st row] until piece meas 10” in all, end with compl shell. CH 3, turn.
NEXT ROW: SHAPE NECK, work in patt across, end with compl shell.
NEXT ROW: Sl st in next 3 sts, shell in next SC, cont in patt to end of row.
NEXT ROWS: Rep last 2 rows once more.
NEXT ROWS: Work straight in patt on rem 2 shells until piece meas 12 ½” in all. Fasten off.
SLEEVES:
CH 44 to mea 7 ½”.
NEXT ROWS: Work in patt as on BACK = 7 shells, until piece meas 8 ½”, end with row with compl shell at each end. DO NOT CH to turn.
NEXT ROWS: SHAPE TOP: Work as for ARMHOLE SHAPING of BACK until only 3 shells rem. Fasten off.
CUFF: [RIGHT SIDE FACING]:
1ST ROW: Work SC along bottom, hold work in to meas 5”. CH 1, turn.
2ND ROW: Sl st loosely in front lp only of each st across. CH 4, turn.
3RD ROW: Work in front lp only of each sl st as follows: * insert hk in next st & draw lp thru, [YO & draw thru 1 lp] 3 times; YO & draw thru rem 2 lps. Rep from * across. CH 1, turn.
4TH ROW: Sl st in front lp only of each st across. Fasten off.
FINISHING:
Sew side & shoulder seams.
Work band around bottom of sweater same as CUFF, keep work flat.
Work band around front & neck edges in same way. Fasten off.
Sew sleeve seams & set in sleeves.
Use 3 single strands off embroidery floss, embroider flowers around neck, as in photo.
Use 1 color for forget-me-nots & other color for French knots.
Sew on buttons.
