Vintage 1940s Elegant Flower Purse #308
Quick & easy to create, this delightful purse will become a season-spanning favorite!

MATERIALS: 
5 spools Bagtwist, or Interchangeable with Corde, Soutache, or Straw
#5 Bone Crochet Hook
Lining Material
2 Handles

ABBREVIATIONS:
APPROX       =  Approximate                     
BEG                =  Begin
CH                  =  Chain                                 
DC                  =  Double Crochet
DEC               =  Decrease                           
HDC               =  Half Double Crochet
MEAS             =  Measure                            
PATT              =  Pattern
REP                =  Repeat                               
SC                  =  Single Crochet
SK                   =  Skip                                    
SL                   =  Slip
ST                   =  Stitch                                  
TOG                =  Together

BAG: 
Ch 5, join, 8 sc in ring.’

2ND RND:  Work 2 sc in each st, join, ch 3.

3RD RND:  * Work 1 popcorn in first st [popcorn--5 dc in one st, drop last loop, put hook in first st & pull last loop thru].  Work 1 sc in next st, rep bet * around row, join, ch 1.  Rep rnds 2 & 3, 2 more times [70 sts].

1ST ROW:  * Work 1 sc in each of next 6 sts, 3 sc in next st, rep bet * around row [10 inc sps always work outer edge of st].

2ND ROW:  * Work 1 sc in each sc [8sc] & 3 sc in center of prev inc sts, rep bet * around row.  Rep row 2 for 8 add rows [24 sts bet incs].

Work next 6 rows as follows: 
* Work 3 sc in center of inc sts, 1 sc in each of next 11 sts, sk 2, 1 sc in each of next 11 sts, rep bet * around row, join, ch 1.

* Work 1 popcorn in next st, 1 dc in next st, rep from * around row.  Work 1 row of sc, putting 3 sts in each corner & sk 2 sts in usual place.

Join sides for 5” with sc.

TABS FOR HANDLES: 
Ch 6, work in sc, st for st, for 2”. 
Make 2 pieces.

FINISHING: 
Cut lining, using crochet pieces as pattern & sew tog. 

Shirr lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.

Insert finished lining in bag.

Note:  Cardboard or lightweight plastic may be inserted between bag & lining to give shape of bag extra support.

Attach tabs to Bag. 

Insert Handles.
