Closed Crown Calot with Frills #960
MATERIALS:
Clark’s Anchor Pearl Cotton, Size 5, 6 balls any color
Steel crochet hook #7

CALOT:
Starting at tip of Crown, ch 2.
1ST RND:
8 Sc in 2nd ch from hk.
Do not join rnds.
2ND RND:
2 Sc in each sc around.
3RD RND:
* Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc.
Rep from * around.
4TH RND: Sc
in each sc around.
Rep last rnd, inc
wherever nec to keep work flat until piece meas 3 ½”, now work as follows:
1ST RND:
Sc in each sc around.
2ND RND:
* Sc in next 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc.
Rep from * around.
3RD RND:
Sc in each sc around.
4TH RND:
Sc in next 4 sc, * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 8 sc. Rep from * around.
5TH RND:
Sc in each sc around.
6TH RND:
Rep 2nd rnd.
Rep last 4 rnds until circumference meas 20”.
[If larger headsize is desired, make a few
more inc rnds.]
Work without inc until piece meas 5 ½” from tip of Crown.
Now sl st in each sc around. Join & fasten off.
FRILL:
With single
thread make ch 13” long.
1ST ROW:
Tr in 6th ch from hk, * ch 1, sk 1 ch, tr in next ch, ch 1,
tr in same ch. Rep from * across. Ch 5, turn.
2ND & 3RD ROWS: Tr in next ch-1 sp, * ch 1, tr in next sp, ch
1, tr in same sp. Rep from *
across. Ch 5, turn.
4TH & 5TH ROWS: Tr in 1st sp, * ch 1, tr in next
sp. Rep from * across. Ch 4, turn.
6TH ROW:
* Sc in next sp, ch 4. Rep from *
across. Fasten off.
Starch Frill very stiff & press.
Pleat Frill to meas 5” & sew to front of Calot, 1” up
from edge.
Extend ends of Frill as far as possible on either side
& sew to Calot.
