will swiftly crochet this delightful hat…Delightful, addition to
the discerning woman‘s wardrobe!

tubes Raphael Gimp
#4
Steel Crochet Hook
Cotton
Batting
SIZE:
22
½”
STITCH:
Use
Single Crochet [sc], Double Crochet [dc], & Straw Stitch [str st] thru out.
It is best to crochet fairly tight to obtain firmness
& body.
STRAW
STITCH [STR ST]:
Yo,
insert hk in next st, pull thru [3 lps on hk], turn hk to back to form half
twist & pull last lp made thru middle lp, yo & pull thru 2 lps on hk.
TOP
OF CROWN:
Ch
4 & join with sl st to form ring.
1ST
ROW: Make 7 sc in ring.
2ND
ROW: Make 2 sc in each st of prev row.
3RD
ROW: * Make 2 str sts in 1st
st, 1 str st in next st & rep from * to end of row [7 incs in row.]
4TH
ROW: * Make 2 str sts in 1st
st, 1 str st in each of next 2 sts & rep from * to end of row.
5TH
TO 21ST ROWS: Cont with str
sts making 7 incs in row.
[Diameter
of Crown should now meas 6 ½”. Do not
inc over prev incs.]
SIDE
OF CROWN:
22ND TO 27TH ROWS: Make 1 dc in each st of prev row picking up
back lp only. End off.
With
side of Crown facing you, start at 21st row of str sts & make 1
sc in each st picking up rem front lp.
LOOPS:
1ST
TO 15TH ROWS: Make 1 lp &
1 sc in each st of prev row as follows:
Insert hk in 1st st, make lp over 2nd finger, pull
thru & finish off sc tightly to hold lp.
Insert
cotton batting & attach dcs & lps tog with 1 sc in each st.
BAND:
1ST
TO 7TH ROWS: Make 1 str st in
each st of prev row. End off.
