HAT:
With double strand [1 strand from each ball] of yarn, cast on 108 sts.
With double strand [1 strand from each ball] of yarn, cast on 108 sts.
Divide
sts evenly on 4 needles & work as for stockings.

K 10 rnds, p 4 rnds; rep from * once.
K
10 more rnds.
Break
off 1 strand & work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 25 rnds.
Add
2nd strand of yarn & work 1 rnd dec as follows:
*K 34, k 2 tog; rep from * around, ending with k last 2 sts of rnd tog.
*K 34, k 2 tog; rep from * around, ending with k last 2 sts of rnd tog.
K
9 more rnds on 105 sts now in rnd.
This
complete roll at top of hat.
Break
off 1 strand of yarn, turn work & k 1 rnd even.
1ST
DEC RND: * K 19, k 2 tog; rep from *
around [5 decs, 100 sts left in rnd].
K
1 rnd even.
2ND
DEC RND: * K 18, k 2 tog; rep from *
around [5 decs, directly over decs in rnd below].

1 rnd even.

in this way to dec 5 sts in every other
rnd, each time having 1 st less bet decs, until there are 10 sts left in rnd.
Break
off yarn, leaving long end to sew with.
With
crewel needle, draw this thread thru sts on needles & fasten off.
Using
crewel needle, sew edge of top roll tog from wrong side, to make it puff out on right side [see photo].
Darn
in all ends.
