Vintage Ruffled Bolero Jacket #510


A clever woman quickly & very easily crochets this charming bolero in a vertical, ripple, ruffled pattern   a season-spanning, wardrobe favorite!

MATERIALS:
American Thread Co. “Dawn” Knitting Worsted 8 oz each of pink & white
#J Plastic Crochet Hook, or #13 Wooden Crochet Hook

GAUGE: 
3 sts = 1”

ABBREVIATIONS:
BEG    =          Beginning                                        
CH      =          Chain
DEC   =          Decrease                                          
INC     =          Increase
LP       =          Loop                                                  
REP    =          Repeat
SC      =          Single Crochet                                
SK       =          Skip
SL       =          Slip                                                    
ST       =          Stitch

SHRUG:
With pink, ch 69.

1ST ROW:  Sc in second st from hook, sc in next ch, * 3 sc in next ch, sc in each of next 2 chs, sk next 2 chs, sc in each of next 2 chs, rep from * across ch ending to correspond, ch 1, turn.

2ND ROW:  Working in back lp of sts only, sk first sc, * sc in each of next 2 sts, 3 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, sk 2 sts, rep from * across row ending last rep with 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, 3 sc in next st, sc in next st, sk next st, sc in next st, drop pink, [when changing colors, always complete last half of st with new color], ch 1, turn.

3RD & 4TH ROWS:  With white rep 2nd row, drop white.

Rep 3rd & 4th rows 4 times alternating colors [this is sleeve].

13TH ROW:  Inc 4 sts at beg & end of row.

14TH ROW:  Inc 3 sts at beg & end of row. 

Continue in stripe pattern for 24 stripes.

NEXT 2 ROWS:  Dec to correspond to inc, then complete sleeve to correspond, cut yarn.

CUFF: 
Join white, work 2 sc in center st of each point, ch 1, turn. 

2ND ROW:  Working in back lp of each st, sc in each sc, ch 1, turn.

Rep 2nd row 3 times, cut yarn. 

Complete other cuff.

FINISHING: 
Matching stripes & with matching yarn, sew sleeve seams.

LOOP STITCH TRIM: 
Join white in sleeve seam, 3 sc in each stripe around opening, join, ch 1.

2ND & 3RD ROWS:  Work double lp st [double lp st: wind yarn twice clockwise around forefinger, insert hook from left to right thru lps on finger, pick up both lps & pull thru having all lps about 1 ½” long, complete sc] in each st around, join, cut yarn.
