Vintage Sandra Calot Cap #513
A clever woman quickly & very easily
crochets this charming Cap in a delightful pattern a season-spanning, wardrobe favorite!
MATERIALS:
J & P Coats or Clark’s ONT Pearl
Cotton, size 5, 4 balls Black & 1 ball each of Green & Ecru
#5 Bone Crochet Hook
Divide each color
into 3 equal parts & use 3 threads throughout.
GAUGE:
3 ½ STS = 1”; 3 RNDS = 1”
3 ½ STS = 1”; 3 RNDS = 1”
STITCHES:
CH = Chain
LP = Loop
REP = Repeat
RND = Round
SC = Single Crochet
SK = Skip
SL ST = Slip Stitch
ST = Stitch
CALOT:
Start at center with black, ch 10.
1ST RND: 3 Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in
each ch across, 3 sc in last ch; work across opposite side of starting ch, make
sc in each ch across.
2ND RND: 2 Sc in next 3 sc, sc in each sc to next 3-sc
group, 2 sc in next 3 sc, sc in each sc to end of rnd.
3RD RND: [2 Sc in next 6 sc, sc in each sc to next
2-sc group] twice [38 sc].
4TH RND: [Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next 8 sc, sc in
each sc to next 2-sc group] twice, end with sc in each sc to end of rnd [54
sc].
5TH THRU 18TH
RNDS: Sc in each sc around. At end of 18th rnd, sl st in next
sc. Break off.
EAR FLAP:
[MAKE 2]: Start at center with
ecru, ch 15. Join with sl st.
1ST RND: Sc in each ch around.
2ND RND: 2 Sc in each sc around.
3RD & 4TH
RNDS: Sc in each sc around, break off.
Frill is worked in rows on lower half of
Ear Flap.
FRILL:
1ST ROW: Attach green
to any sc, [ch 3, sc in next sc] 15 times, ch 1, turn.
2ND ROW: * Sc in next lp, ch 3, rep from * across, end
with sc in last lp, ch 1, turn. Rep 2nd
row 2 more times, break off.
Attach black in any sc on ecru edge. Make rnd of sc in each sc & 4 sc in each
lp around entire Ear flap. Sl st in 1st
sc, break off.
Sew top half of Ear flaps to each side of
Calot.
