& easy to crochet this charming set of hat & purse…stylish lines of
classic design…sophisticated & smart, season-spanning, wardrobe

MATERIALS:

tubes Corde, or 4 gross Soutache,
OR 4 gross Ribbonette

Ornament
BAG: Ch 103 sts, join with sl st, work 1 row sc on
chain. Ch 3.
1ST
ROW: * Work 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in 3rd
st, sk 2 sts & work 1 dc in next st *.
Rep bet *s around row.
2ND
& 3RD ROWS: Same as 1st
row, work 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc, in ch 2 of prev row, 7 1 dc in dc of prev row.
4TH,
5TH & 6TH ROWS:
Same as 2nd & 3rd rows, with exception that
you will work 3 dc, ch 2, & 3 dc in ch 2 of prev row.
7TH,
8TH & 9TH ROWS:
Same as 2nd & 3rd rows, with exception that
you will work 4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc in ch 2 of prev row.
10TH,
11TH & 12TH ROWS:
Same as 2nd & 3rd rows, with exception that
you will work 5 dc, ch 2, 5 dc, in ch 2 of prev row.
HANDLE: Work center 3 shells, either side of bag, for
3 ½”.
BOTTOM: Ch 30 sts & work 1 row of sc around
chain, putting 3 sc in either end st.
cont too inc 3 sts either end of this piece until it meas 11” in length.
Make
paper patt from crocheted pieces& lay aside to be used later.
FINISHING: Join handles tog, & work 1 row sc around
top of bag. Join bottom to bag with 1
row of sc.
Cut
lining according to paper patt & sew tog.
Shirr
lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.
Insert
finished lining in bag. Sew in zipper.
Attach
ornament to zipper pull.
Note: Cardboard
or lightweight plastic may be inserted between bag & lining to give shape
of bag extra support.
HAT: Ch 5, join, ch 3, 24 dc in ring.
1ST
ROW: * Sk 1 st, 3 dc [shell] in next st,
sk 1, 1 sc in next st *, Rep bet *s
around row, join, ch 3.
2ND
ROW: * 5 Dc in sc of prev row, 1 sc in 2nd
st of shell *. Rep bet *s around row,
join, ch 3.
3RD
ROW: Same as 2nd row, with
exception that you sc in 3rd st of shell & work shell in sc,
join, ch 2.
4TH
ROW: Same as 2nd row.
5TH
ROW: * 7 Dc in sc, 1 sc in 3rd
st of shell *. Rep bet *s around row.
6TH
ROW: Same as 5th row, with
exception that you sc in 4th st of shell.
7TH,
8TH & 9TH ROWS:
Same as 6th row.
10TH
ROW: Work 1 row sc around hat, holding
it in to fit head, if necessary.
