Gauge: 7 sdc = 2”; 2 sdc rows = 1”
Note: SDC = Short Double
Crochet, or is now called HDC = Half Double Crochet
Ch
54, about 15 ½”, sl st in 2nd st from hook, sl st in each of next 4
sts of ch, 1 sc in each of next 9 sts of ch, 1 sdc in each remaining st of ch
[sdc: yarn over hook, insert in st, pull loop thru, yarn over & work off
all loops at one time], ch 2, turn.
2nd row:
Working
in back loop of sts throughout, sdc in same space, 1 sdc in each of next 39
sts, 1 sc in each of next 9 sts, sl st in each of next 5 sts, ch 1, turn.
3rd row:
Sl
st in each next 9 sc, 1 sdc in each of next 40 sts, ch 2, turn.
Rep
last 2 rows 49 times, then rep the 2nd row once. Working across neck edge work 1 sc in each
ridge [51 sc], 54 sc down side of cape, work in sc across lower edge & 54
sc up opposite side, join in 1st sc, cut yarn.
Collar: Ch 20, sdc in 3rd
st from hook, 1 sdc in each remaining st of ch, ch 2, turn.
2nd row:
Working
in back loop of sts throughout, sdc in same space, 1 sdc in each remaining sdc,
ch 2, turn.
Rep
last row 36 times, do not ch 2 at end of last row.
Work
a row of sc around 2 short sides & 1 long side, cut yarn.
Sew
remaining long side to neck edge.
Sew
braid around collar & to both front edges as shown in photo.
Sew
hook & eye at neck opening.
