Quick & easy to
crochet this delightful sweater with matching mittens!
SIZE:
Infants.
Larger sizes may be achieved by increasing size of needles & weight
of yarn.

GAUGE:
6 sts = 1”
JACKET:
BACK:
With afghan hk, ch 60, pick up & pull lp thru each st of ch, leave
all lps on hk (60 lps on hk), work back by drawing yarn thru 1st lp (post of
st), * yo hk & draw thru 2 lps, rep from * to end of row (1 complete row).
2nd Row:
Lp
on hk is 1st st of row, with yarn in back of work, pick up lp in each of next 3
sts inserting hk under post of st, all sts are worked in same manner, * place
yarn in front of work & pick up lp in each of next 3 sts, this is purled
afghan st, with yarn in back of work, draw up lp in each of next 4 sts, this is
plain afghan st, rep from * across row leaving all sts on hk.
3rd Row:
Draw
yarn thru first lp, * yo & draw thru 2 lps, rep from * to end of row.
Rep
2nd & 3rd rows for patt. Work even
in patt until work meas 8” from beg.
Next Row: Sl st across 1st 4
posts of sts, work in patt across row to within last 4 sts for underarm shaping
(52 sts). Work even in patt until
armhole meas 3 ½” from underarm.
Next Row: Work across 15 sts
& place on holder to be worked later for right front, sl st across next 22
posts of sts for back of neck, work across rem 15 sts for left front.
Work
even on these sts until armhole meas 7” from underarm ending at armhole edge.
With
separate piece of yarn ch 4 & attach to front at underarm, work across in
patt on these sts (19 sts on hk).
Work
even until front meas same as back, sl st in each post of st across row, cut
yarn.
RIGHT
FRONT:
Sl sts from holder onto hk, attach yarn at neck edge & work back
same as 3rd row.
Work
even in patt for 1 ½“ ending at neck edge.
With
separate piece of yarn ch 23 & attach to front at neck edge, work across ch
in patt.
Work
even until armhole meas 7” ending at armhole edge, ch 4, pull lp thru each st
of ch, work across row (42 sts).
Work
even in patt until front meas same as back, sl st in each post of st, cut yarn.
SLEEVES:
With right side of work toward you, pick up
& pull lp thru 42 sts around armhole & work even in patt having 2 plain
afghan sts at each end until sleeve meas 6” or length desired.
Next Row: With #E hk work 1 sc in
each post of sts, join to first sc (42 sts).
Next Row: * Work 1 sc in each of
next 5 sc, dec 1 st in next 2 sts (to dec: insert hk in next st & draw up
lp, insert hk in next st & draw up lp, yo & draw thru all lps at one
time), rep from * 5 times (36 sts).
Next Row: Work 1 sc in each st.
Next Row: * Work 1 sc in each of
next 4 sc, dec in next 2 sts, rep from * 5 times (30 sts).
Next Row: * Ch 3, 3 dc in same
sp, sk 2 sc, 1 sc in next st (shell), rep from * all around, join, cut yarn (10
shells). Sew side & sleeve seams.
With
right side of work toward you, attach yarn in corner st of lower edge of right
front & work 52 sc up front, ch 1, turn.
Next Row: 1 Sc in each sc, ch 1,
turn.
Next Row: 1 Sc in 1st sc, * ch 2
for buttonhole, sk 2 sts, 1 sc in each of next 10 sc, rep from * 3 times, ch 2,
sk 2 sts, sc in last st, ch 1, turn (5 buttonholes).
Next Row: 1 Sc in each sc, 2 sc
in each ch 2 lp, ch 1, turn.
Next Row: 1 Sc in each sc, cut
yarn.
With
right side of work toward you, attach yarn at shoulder edge of left front &
work 59 sc down front, picking up full st, ch 1, turn.
Next Row: 1 Sc in each of next 52
sc, ch 1, turn.
Next 3 Rows: 1 Sc in each sc, cut
yarn at end of last row.
With right side
of work toward you, attach yarn & work row of sc across lower edge, cut
yarn.
COLLAR:
With right side of work toward you, attach
yarn at neck edge of right front & work 63 sc around neck edge leaving last
4 rows free on left front, ch 1, turn.
Next 3 Rows: 1 Sc in each sc, ch 1
to turn each row.
Next Row: 2 Sc in 1st sc, 1 sc in
each sc across row, ch 1, turn.
Next Row: 1 Sc in each sc, ch 1,
turn.
Next Row: 2 Sc in 1st sc, 1 sc in
each rem st, ch 1, turn.
Next Row: 1 Sc in each sc, 2 sc
in last sc, cut yarn.
With wrong side of
work toward you, attach yarn at lower side edge of collar, ch 3, 3 dc in same
sp, * sk 2 sts, sc in next st, ch 3, 3 dc in same sp, rep from * all around,
cut yarn.
Sew buttons in position &
sewing button on collar.
MITTENS
:
With afghan hk ch 28, pick up &
pull lp thru each st of ch leaving all lps on hk (28 lps) & work back same
as 3rd row of Jacket.
Work
even in patt same as sleeve for 2”.
Next 3 Rows: Work in patt dec 4 sts
evenly sp in each row (to dec: insert hk under post of 2 sts, yo & pull
thru both sts).
Next Row: With #E hk, ch 1, 1 sc
in each post of sts, cut yarn leaving an end to sew top & side of
mitten.
Attach yarn at cuff edge, &
with #E hk work 30 sc around cuff edge, join to first sc.
Next Row: BEADING: Ch 3, * sk 1 sc, 1 hdc in next st (hdc: yo
hk, insert in st, pull thru, yo & pull thru all lps at one time), ch 1, rep
from * all around, join in 2nd st of ch (15 meshes).
Next Row: Ch 1, 2 sc in each
mesh, join.
Next Row: Ch 1, 1 sc in each sc,
join.
Next Row: Work row of shells same
as on sleeve of Jacket, cut yarn.
Lace
ribbon through beading.
