is an elegant variation on the cape theme in a delightful openwork design of
lacy & solid stripes. Attractive
& suitable for many occasions, it can be made up very quickly.

Holding
right side of work toward you, join yarn with sl st in 3rd sc of
neck edge, working from top down, ch 4, 1 tr in same st as sl st, [this forms a
rib st group] a sl st around top of center tr of first tr group of 1st
row, * ch 4, 1 tr around rib st group just made, a sl st in base of center tr
of tr group of next row; rep from * down first strip; break off. Sk 3 sc, join yarn with sl st in next sc of 4th
row [at top of center tr of next tr group] & work in same manner as last
strip.
Work
rib st group along center tr down each strip in same manner.
FRINGE:
Wind
yarn about 24 times around 5” piece of cardboard, cut one end, thus making 10”
strands.
Continue
to cut fringe as needed.
Hold
two 10” strands together 7 fold in half to form a lp, insert hk in end st of
row before last of front band at lower edge & draw lp of strands thru, draw
loose ends thru this lp & pull tightly to form a knot [sk next row of band,
tie two 10” strands to end st of next
row in same manner, tie two 10” strands to every other st across entire lower
edge of cape.
Trim
all fringe evenly.
